Costume Quest sounds like what what you're looking for. It's a short, simple RPG that is charming as fuck, and can be finished in about a weekend. Hopefully it's still available after all the THQ stuff, though.

And if you are looking for light-hearted, but still mechanically rock solid adventure games, I can't think of a better one than The Book of Unwritten Tales. In my opinion, it's just about the definitive "adventure-ass adventure game."

Toonstruck is actually really goddamn good.

I think the most fun I've had with levels in Blood Money was when I set out to apply the hiking/camping philosophy of "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." I wouldn't want someone to find a body and ask a rhetorical "oh how could such a horrible thing have happened?" If someone was going to find any of the bodies, I'd want a baffled "no seriously, how the fuck DID that happen?"

*Edit: Although now that I think about it, there ARE some specific reasons why you might want to use these other weapons, @MistaSparkle. In quite a few cases, you can get away with openly carrying one of the makeshift weapons if you're in an appropriate disguise. If I remember correctly, guards will almost never give a second thought to a construction worker carrying a nail gun or a chef walking around with a meat cleaver.

General question about VLR (and 999 to some extent): Were there any points/twists in either story that happened so abruptly that you thought, even if just for a moment, "alright, now Uchikoshi is just fucking with us. I was on board with the earlier crazy, but this is simply gotten out of hand." In other words, do you think either game stretches itself just a bit too far and crosses the line between genius and bullshit?

@Shuborno: Yeah, that's what it was. I don't remember any of the details, other than that it was something about (something called) TRIM.

On a related note, I seem to remember reading somewhere that migrating a previous install of Windows 7 to an SSD makes a difference in speed (compared to it being on a regular drive), but also that doing a fresh install allows for some kind of SSD specific setting that makes a much, much bigger difference. Does anyone know if that's the case, or if I just misread something/imagined the whole thing?
