I enjoyed Advent Rising a hell of a lot.

If I can roll art design and animation to "GRAPHICS" then yes, they matter quite a bit.

eg. Shadow of the Colossus is still a stunningly beautiful game.

I would have said The Last of Us until it ended. It's an incredibly well crafted game and I'm the first one for dark endings but I'm also the first one for smartly designed character arcs being the basis of narrative storytelling. I really feel like Last of Us dropped the ball in the final quarter and undid most of their incredible storytelling.

Bioshock left me amazed, and though it's not stronger in terms of story it felt more adventurous with it's story and design. There were moments in Bioshock I was truly impressed and surprised, blown back by elements of the game. Was it kinda scatterbrained? Yea, a bit. Could the core mechanics have used some tweaking? Yup! it's not perfect but it's beyond remarkable. And as much as I loved Last of Us and believe it to be one of the best examples of the medium I couldn't escape the feeling like it tread so much old fiction without adding much to any of it. That and the ending was not something I feel came together.

It's my opinion.

It's always odd to explain this stuff to people who don't listen to that kind of media but yea, I consider the GB guys friends in a way. They open up to the community and keep me company on late nights or my ever relentless public transport commute to work.
Frankly, they make my day better by keeping me company and it ends up meaning something to us even if it doesn't make sense. We're human, we don't have to make sense.

God, my heart goes out to all the people at the site and to his wife. I'd say 'lets remember everything that was great about him' or something but he was about the nicest guy in the world. So it comes pretty naturally. We love you all (in the non-creepy way)

We've all lost someone really great and more people know will miss him than he would know.

My love goes out to the GiantBomb crew, we love you guys too.

For my money, MS used cash to buy exclusives (which is fine) but only until they had they had the core gamers in the bag. Because they didn't own the studios and each exclusive was bought with cash, they backed away and things dried up for the most part.

I'm pretty impressed with the xbone exclusive library at the moment but I can't escape the feeling that they'll ease off two years from now while PS will keep churning out exclusives from their stable of studios.

In my books ME2 is the best of the trilogy, hands down. They all have their faults and strengths.

All those options and nothing for "I work full time and can't keep up with every big release anyway so it's just fine with me."

cuzz that's where I'm at.

Coming up on the end of The Last of Us finally. Man... that game's pretty good.

I could go for:

Alan Wake 2 - I really ended up loving that character.

Psychonauts 2 - obviously

DMC reboot 2 - really, really liked where it was going

Blood Wake 2 - guys, big motor boats with machine guns and torpedoes, classic Xbox!

anything Oddworld!

I'm so happy seeing 'The Darkness' on so many of these lists. LOVE that game.

Also: Banjo Nuts & Bolts is a must for everyone who ever tinkered with LEGO as a kid.
