Still that isn't what is ascertained here. Here it is about your relationship with Science. Do you need her to tell you how the world is, or do you rely in some other decision factors to colour your reality? "
Sort of an odd question, but I guess my answer would be science-based world viewing.  I like understanding why things react the way they do, knowing that imperceivable elements are constantly enacting forces upon my person, etc.  What other way would there be?

Fairly new to all the fighting game stuff, but I want to work at it and reach annoying levels of skill in the fighting game genre.  So, being a novice, thought I'd bring the questions to the experts on the board.

#1  What are the best current fighting games?
#2  Do you go Arcade Stick, Fight Pad, or standard controller?  Why that preference?
#3  What upcoming fighting games should we be on the lookout for?

Give me your expert answers, or add questions I'm too dumb to think of right now!

@Immuniity:  Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.  FOLLOWED!

1) How'd you know those are two of my favorite games?!  You've had this talk before, I see.
2) It's not so much that I'm being called a fanboy, it's more that people seem to immediately throw me into that group and dismiss any viewpoints on the games as a result.  I'm more sad about the state of the populace than being called fanboy.
3) True as it is, it doesn't make the wait any easier.  Sometimes I wish they'd withhold ALL info on a game until its release.  Can you imagine if Tuesday rolled around and Blizzard announces "World of Starcraft!  On store shelves RIGHT NOW!"
4) Best launch day I've ever participated in.  Wish I was able to hold on to that system...
Thanks for the bolstering words.  It's kinda like a Video Game Therapist thread you've started here.

-The Dreamcast is gone and is never coming back.
-Sonic the Hedgehog hasn't been relevant since Sonic Adventure's initial release.
-No matter how many smart, artful video games come out I will still be labeled as "just a gamer".
-Even being a casual fan of Halo will label me as a 'Master Chief fanboy' to those that hate the series.
-Sam and Max: Hit the Road will not be remade for modern computers.
-Video games will always be viewed as childish and dumb by a large portion of the population.
-Blizzard will never release a game within 4 years of its announcement.

Sigh, this is heartbreaking.  If anyone can dispel my insights, please do.

I grew up shy, but slowly and methodically transferred that anxiety to hate for mankind for making me feel alienated merely by its existence.  That said, I'm slowly and methodically working that barrier down again.  You all can rest safe.  Unless I get super powers.  Then all bets are off.

Is anyone else on an "island" they built during their shy formative years?  Did you have any luck breaking the habits you developed?  If yes, how?

I got chided for playing Elite Beat Agents for the DS.  I really enjoyed the hell out of it, but got "wtf are you doing?" looks from friends when I mentioned it.
On the other side, I have a couple of friends who get into very long conversations about Dwarf Fortress while I just sit there and roll my eyes.  I didn't like the look of it, didn't even want to try it.  By nature I'm against most strategy building games, so I guess that's not a big surprise.

I bought the Super Meat Boy soundtrack last week.  It is fucking magical.
Other than that, I only take advantage of free offers.  Aside from SMB and Final Fantasy VII, I haven't gone out of my way to get a game soundtrack.

Used to be an avid anime watcher, but that was a good while back when you could find awesome series readily.  Not so much above average anime found lately though.
I LOVE all Miyazaki films, I would recommend them to anyone, particularly The Castle of Cagliostro.
Some of my favorite series are FLCL, Exel Saga, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu!, and Avatar: The Last Airbender (does this count?).
