Can we get a confirm that you need any curved sword that has been +10'd

So like a schimtar or however it is spelled would be fine?

And I can just forge it to +10 and then use her soul at the other blacksmith to upgrade it?

I only upgraded the drake sword once, so no loss there. I'm not going to dump anymore points into it from now on out though.

I'm rocking some heavy armor too, the stone armor set, which is decent but a little heavy.

I'm still a good amount from reaching my max level for being able to wear/carry equipment too, so it's decent for now.

It says here in the item screen that you can either "use for a large amount of souls or create a powerful weapon (or something like that)"

I currently am a pyromancer (for those who don't know) and I'm using the Drake Sword, should I just use the souls to power up? Or hold onto this? If so, were do I use this to make a weapon?

So I'm a level 42 Pyromancer and I decided before I went into the Demons Ruins (because the boss down there just TAPPED me and killed me instantly) that I was going to go fetch myself the Drake Sword finally and banish this big dumb firebreathing douchbag dragon for once and good on the bridge.

So I looked up a few hints on killing him, grabbed my longbow and 100 arrows (tested one hit on his tail which was 30 dam and divided that by his health and gave myself a bunch extra's "just in case") and started picking off this big flaming fuck tard.

So after a few well placed hits, his tail fell off, I was given a great sword and decided to take him out for good.

According to my math I should have been fine with the amount of arrows I had, but nope. LIES.

So after destroying the tail, I found a little spot to get him from underneath the bridge still that was doing MORE damage than actual headshots were doing.

I started picking him off, one by one (sometimes it would glitch out and I could get 4-5 shots on him at once before he came down) and started getting it's health down.

Eventually there came a point where there was a chokehold in it's health...the dragon simply wasn't losing any more health!

I must have spent a good 50 arrows in him or more and his health would not go any further down than 3/4's.

(I only consumed about a quarter of his health)

I did not leave and I paced myself pretty decently, knowing that he can regen on the church rooftop IF you leave to buy more arrows.

Has anyone else had a problem with this? Can the dragon heal while you're there fighting him?

Any good pointers for this would help, I just want this big dummy dead and gone and I've heard stories of people killing him in like one hit! WTF!

Good idea for a new thread!

But yeah, I see you've gotten a large amount of advice but I'm just going to put my two cents into this too if anyone cares to read.

Starting off in the game with mainly new comers, the Warrior class is most likely the best. Or if you're more familiar with games that play "sort of" like this, the Pyromancer is second best bet but be sure to do your RESEARCH on him/her before you start with one as you will need to know who to rescue, etc in order to upgrade/buy new magic for your character.

But in the end the Pyromancer is a fantastic character for melee, magic and is quick moving.

For instances I have a lvl 51 Pyromancer now and he is a beast but his magic hit's like a dump truck when I use it, it's nice because it only cost a small amount of souls to level up your basic fire attack.

That and I use a lighter armor so I'm able to bounce around a lot quicker but spare no expense on a heavy shield for a good sturdy defense.

Like some people have said, killing Havel is the smart thing to do right off the bat because this way you don't have to be afraid of putting heavy equipment to defend yourself while you're learning the game and then switching to something lighter once you've mastered the maneuvering if your character.

But with me I put most of my weight into my shield, I ALWAYS want a good solid defense with my shield but I'll keep my body armor very low so it's very light and I'm more nimble this way.

So with that said, it leaves me at a small disadvantage because it takes less hits for me to die but it leaves me at a skill advantage as I have a shield that will block almost most of any of the attacks I have encountered to date.

Also, I have yet to read through these but regardless of what class you are, go out there and farm the hell out of some souls and pick up a bow and some arrows and go attack the Hellkite Dragon on the bridge, as in...go attack his tail.

You'll be blessed with one of the best mid-high range swords in the game (there are WAY better later on, but for 65-70% of the game, it'll do) which is of course, the Drake Sword.

Always be sure to be very, very patient with everything you do. Never, ever rush.

Take risk but not foolish ones because you will either be rewarded handsomely or punished severely for your foolish mistakes!

Also, it's to be noted that there will be times you will give up on the game, DON'T. Trust me, even when all hope seems to fail!

I've been there a few times and I'm so happy I didn't bail out on the game when I could have a few times, you WILL regret the most rich, satisfying and engaging experience for a videogame in ages. That, I promise you.

To start off also you'll want to head (after the asylum) up to the right where you see a large bridge and make your way through the bridge and eventually to ring the first bell.

After you ring that...well the rest, the rest is up to you!

So after you kill the Queen (right before the second bell) and you entire down from ringing the bell, there is a secret wall there.

You must hit it, enter in and talk to the man who has eggs on his back, say yes and move into the room.

You are then greeted to the right of you with what seems to be the now, run down, drained Queen herself, who can reinforce your estus flask.

You're also given the answer to talk to her (which she says nothing) or join a covenant.

Does anyone know what this covenant is? And what happens if you kill either of them?

This music and everything is bugging me out too, I love it.

I think it's kind of a "sensitive" situation with a game like this, I mean for Demons Sous I had a few parts that I knew how to manipulate in my favor for a bit, but I wouldn't really call it an "exploit".

I think any kind of farming in general is good in this game, as long as you're not leveling up your character....and what I mean by that is spending it at things like the Blacksmith, buying that key that you said you bought, etc.

Then it comes more or less, okay.

With games like Final Fantasy though it's a good thing, but with Demons Souls or Dark Souls it can put a damper on the game itself, especially if you enjoy any of the multiplayer due to the guide lines it has, I think you'll end up finding less people to summon, etc by grinding your level too high than what it needs to be at certain points in the game.

@Pinworm45: God that video is painful.

Thanks everyone for replying, I was going to rent this game (not buy it).

I'm a huge fan of the "post-apocalyptic" setting in games (as long as it's done RIGHT) for instance games like Fallout 3/ Fallout New Vegas are easily my favorite to date.

I honestly didn't think Borderlands was that good, I tried so many times to get into it but it just didn't sit right with me...I think it was the lack of variety in the guns (even though it HAD actual variety, but it didn't have the visual appeal / appeal that games like Diablo have with looting).

I don't mind games that are a little straight forward, for instance I just finished up Warhammer 40k's Space Marine and enjoyed that but now I'm lost in the world of Dark Souls...so my playing style varies all the time.

I just didn't want to go out of my way and be bummed out.

I will say that it's a good thing that I didn't buy Rage over Dark Souls when I had the chance though. PHEW!

It's a question that needed to be answer by the players themselves, not the reviewers I think.

I do written reviews a lot on "another" website (i'm not sure if I can say who?) and I always make sure to break the review up into different sections per say, such as people who enjoy "this" style of FPS or "this" style of RPG, or people who enjoy this style of game and lastly people who don't really play games like this but might find appeal in this game.

I really wish reviewers would do this more often then just putting a review of their own personal thoughts of the game, which in the end...don't mean shit.
