It's not because of the writing that people say that. It's because it's barely a fucking videogame. It falls so flat on its face whenever it tries to be a game that it's not even funny.
Because the world is run by old men and right now the hip thing is to get offended by everything.
Once those things change maybe we'll see a turn for more mature games. Although by more mature I don't mean having rape thrown in your face all the time.
Like in Dark Souls there's a sub-plot where rape is strongly implied. That works far better than what I'd imagine would happen if anyone othen than From did it.
Tatsuya from P2 has a way stronger and imposing personality than Blue Jesus and Brotag. But now that I think about it he only uses his voice in demon dialogues and there's way fewer dialogue choices.
Still, the filled in backstory makes him a much better character. I'm not going to say that P3 and P4 protags are entirely blank slates because they definitely give off some vibe of what they are supposed to be but that's nothing compared to Tatsuya.
I just wish P2 was more fun to play so I could get through it. Those characters and story are so darn great.
Even more than last year's LA Noire almost missing the top 10 list.
If only you knew my pain of Dark Souls missing the top 10. I mean seriously what the fuck. Even if you don't like it you have to admit that it's absolutely a great game.
Only block if you have a serious greatshield with maybe at least 80 stability. Otherwise he's just going straight through your shield in a few cuts.
Also look for when he starts rolling away from you. That's a signal for you to start fucking booking it towards him and cutting him with all your shit. That'll get him out of his powerup.
It's one of my favorite fights in the whole game - really fun to dodge all that stuff.
