So selling 750,000 copies (possibly more if digitals aren't counted) and being the 6th best selling game is now considered a flop..? Being part of a large developer must be really fucking depressing if your game has to sell multi-millions to be considered a success.

I remember when CDProject Red were ecstatic that The Witcher sold 500,000 copies. Same with Atlus and Catherine. These colossal sales projections that publishers make to get their stock holders rock hard are kind of disgusting.

I believe it's about the money that was put into the game (marketing and making it) and what they got back. Catherine probably didn't take that much money to develop, but it still made money. It's also a fantastic puzzle game with an amazing story despite what some people wrongly think.

@tobbrobb:The RWBY stuff looks interesting but I'm wondering what the story is going to be about. Are these four girls based off fairy tale characters? Also gun scythe is weirdest weapon I've seen so far and that rapier that switches between different elemental attacks is neat

I've seen the gun scythe combo twice before I saw the original Red video. Margaret from No More Heroes 2 uses dual scythes and they change into a sniper rifle. Yeager from Tales of Vesperia also has a rifle that turns into a scythe.

I didn't want to create another topic for the same thing so I guess this is an update.

Elance seems to be working out pretty good. I've completed a few jobs, got paid, but then I ran out of elance "connects" to apply for more stuff so now I can't do anything until I get them renewed in about a week. After that I'll have 40 proposals to submit each month so I should be good.

In the meantime I'm still trying to find a part time or full graphic design job and I figured I should check out some other "online freelance" website. Odesk was mentioned in this thread so I thought I'd sign up and give it a shot. First impression of that place is pretty bad. The few graphic design jobs I've looked have the clients wanting their logo done in a day for like $20. That's no good.

I'll keep an eye on more job listings on Odesk, but it was kind of a bummer. Does anyone know of any other freelance website that has clients that actually pay above minimum wage? Some 3rd world dudes had their hourly rate around $2 an hour on Odesk. You wont see 3rd world guys like that on elance or at least I haven't seen them win any jobs that I'm also applying for.

Don't know if anyone caught this news earlier. Could not possibly be more excited. New designs might take a while to get used to, but still, I squealed like a middle school girl in the front row at a Beiber concert when I saw this.

yep saw that earlier today

I had forgotten to change it until I saw this. I knew there was a reason why the site didn't look right.

You can simply have plenty of small contained storylines in side quests where those characters matter in whatever village or town you encounter them. It doesn't have to be save the world stuff.

No. People are not going to throw away their older consoles. Most people will not have a new console a year after they launch.

I would if I had the money to buy a 3DS. I'm all about tactical RPGs and I own a few on my DS. I only have two games for my PSP (P3P and KH:BBS), but I believe that I should probably look into Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. I hear it's basically FFT.

Good going fans, you killed the entire franchise.

That's a damn shame, I actually liked this game more than the other DMC's.

How are the fans to blame for not buying a game that doesn't cater to their interests? Why would you imply that fans should buy anything from anyone that slaps the name of their franchise on the box? It's funny that before the game came out the argument was "If you don't like it then don't buy it." They do that and now we get this "It's the fault of the fans for killing the franchise" bullshit? Make up your mind.

Because incredibly bad word of mouth and user metacritic scores coming from people who haven't even played the game affects game sales immensely. Couple that with the fact that when the pc version came out there were people who said "If you were to pirate any game, this would be the one lololol" and you've got a case of fans messing with sales.

Also, the if you don't like it then don't buy it argument should have been changed to "If you don't like it then don't condemn it for other people you twat" instead.

So the fans are responsible for the bad word of mouth that came from not liking the game and in order to keep criticisms about the game from hurting sales they should have kept quiet? Are you aware of what you're saying?

Let's face it, a majority of the people who tanked the metacritic score didn't even play it. Are you telling me that a 2 or a 1 out of 10 for a somewhat critically acclaimed game is honest? A lot of people look on metacritic before they buy, and when they see that schism, they simply glance over the game and don't buy it. If you don't believe that you're lying to yourself.

@KaosAngel: Don't speak for me. You don't know what I'm saying at all.

I wasn't aware that user reviews for a game could cause a title to lose millions in sales numbers. Haven't other games been bombed by negative user reviews before release and sold fantastically well? You would think that all the positive reviews for the game would have been stronger than the negative reviews by random people.

@golguin: No, it's not just that. The XCOM QL got my attention when Ryan saw who his enemy was and his and Jeff's reactions made it all seem like some dire shit. It's the tension and riskiness of XCOM that made it interesting to watch then, and what made it interesting on this TNT as well.

I hadn't played XCOM when giantbomb played the game so it simply looked like a normal tactics game to me. I played and beat the game toward the end of 2012 and learned it was essentially a tactics game for beginners and didn't deserve its praise for its difficulty and depth. I'm glad that Patrick took the dive into the genre and became aware of how lacking XCOM was when compared to other games in the genre.

Watching this TNT and knowing how to use the units and their abilities caused me to get lost in the chat and the side conversations. I probably paid attention to about 5 minutes of the actual game.
