@schizogony:  Final Fantasy XI is great, but I would not recommend to someone who never played an MMO before.

Me too. I don't know why. I guess it's exciting to tear that plastic off. "
I always like that new game smell. "
This. I have a sealed copy of Patapon 2, though. I just got it last friday along with Final Fantasy and decided to play the latter first.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look around for a copy of FES and maybe if I really like it, I'll buy the portable version later.

I keep hearing people talking about this series, specially the last 2 games but before getting into the series there are some things I'd like to clear up:

1- Are the games direct sequels? I mean, does Persona 3 pick up where Persona 2 ended or the games are only loosely connected? Or, they have little to nothing in common like Final Fantasy?
2- I'm thinking of starting with Persona Portable or one of the versions of Persona 3. Any opinions on which one should I pick first?
3- P3 FES or P3 Portable? I read that the portable version features some new content, but does it also sacrifices content? I don't care about graphics but I love voice action. I don't even know if the original Persona 3 had voice acting but is any content stripped down in the portable version?
4- I hear the latest games have some kind of dating/social mechanics which I assume to be similar to what one can find on a Harvest Moon game, but if that is so, which Persona game started this?

Hard to choose, but I'm going with Vinny because he seems to be the biggest adventure game fan in the staff.

i wasn't  bothered by this code thing at all, i buy almost all new games, same as you.  But, i wasn't aware about that 7 day free trial thing. You whiners are ridiculous if you get 7 days to try it out on a game, that's plenty of time for a rental. So stop you're bitching and moaning about how it should be illegal. "

Wow, telling people on the internets to shut up, you're so cool.

I support EA, and any other company for that matter, trying to increase their revenue by offering services. But do it smart. Their sport games are not exclusively online like MMO's so if they're managing online conectivity as a service rather than a feature, how about charging 50 bucks for the games and offering their online game service for the extra 10 dollars? This way, if one doesn't want or just can't play online he has an option of not paying for it. People who buy new and play online will pay the same and get the same; people who buy new and on don't play online will pay less and get the same; people who buy used and play online will pay the relatively the same and now EA gets money for the service.
I don't buy EA Sport games because their games become obsolete in about a year so could just as well say "It doesn't matter to me so screw you guys". But being ok with this that just sets a bad precedent as Jimbo  put it.

@Godwind:  Well, I understand why the government still goes for those crazy percentages but it sucks. Games are manageable, there are some legal ways to reduce the chances of being taxed. it's hardware that bothers me since the customs offices pay much more attention to those items and it's arguably better to buy those from stores that offer some kind of extra warranty (on top of the non-existent/non-applicable  manufacture's warranty) than risk importing by oneself . In most cities you can't find a 120GB US-imported PS3 selling for less than 750 USD today, and that's really f'ed up. But I digress.
