CONSTRUCTIVE POST:

As a guy who's played a hell of a lot of Call of Duty4's multiplayer I must admit I actually like it.  However I do consider it more of a mod for Call of Duty 4's multiplayer.  The quality isn't quite as high as Call of Duty 4, it seems to have a lot of bugs and balance issues but the gameplay is fresh, new weapons and perks really increase my interest in this game.  It seems very strange to me that you unlock the more powerful weapons as you level up, the genius of CoD4 was that the most powerful weapon in the game was the weapon you start off with. Unlocking more powerful weapons as you level seems to punish new players which is bad practice really, new weapons should be different, not better.  I think the tank's controls are completely horrible and I tend to use them as more of a static gun turret that I can move if I have to.

I have mixed feelings about the dogs and I actually think they cause far too many deaths, directly they'll get maybe 3/4 kills but indirectly they diftract players so much that enemy players can easily pick off people under attack by dogs.

Reading this post again it seems like I'm very down on CoD:WaW but I do actually think its pretty decent and it'll hold me over until the next ful Call of Duty game.

Sorry Zeph but that seems a little like an excuse, a good game will explain the controls to you in a detailed tutorial, this method means that people who haven't played a lot of RTS games will be completely confused when using the full control scheme and fustrated using the basic control scheme, experienced players may never even discover the full control scheme and think the game is missing essential features.  Instead a decent tutorial would show players of all skill levels just how to use each command and if they feel like they can't handle these controls they can be completely ignored until they feel confident enought to attempt them.

EDIT: Sorry Zeph I sound like I'm taking it out on you here, it just annoyed me that they'd do something idiotic like this.

I'm kinda annoyed by the performance of this beta.  I hope the full game gets fixed.  Honestly 100% this game will decide if I buy a PS3 after X-mas.  Its the sort of game I love and It'll hold me over until the next Call of Duty game

Yea I actually figured it was the games tutorial.  It just wants you to use the right units against the right units.  I don't actualy think you can lose.  Try the skimish mode, you really do get a better feel for this game.

BIG TIP:  Turn on the full commands in the options menu.  You get a few new vioce commands like the ability to create groups which is very useful

What? Seriously? I have to switch on half the fucking control scheme?  That's completely absurd! Imagine playing Halo and having to knock on Melee or switch weapons.  Man that is dumb.

Yea but thanks Tom, you've saved much fustration

Yea the bolt action rifles are very hard to use without the scope.  It seems to take 3 shots to kill most of the time and thats not really practical against moving targets or people with SMGS.  I really look forward to trying the Mosin-Nagant, I found on on the floor once and went a huntin.

Does anybody think its annoying that the better weapons are higher up the unlock chain?  It seems to punish people who haven't played as much.  That was why the M16 was the first weapon you get in CoD4, its the most powerful, by far.

Well you can still use troop transports to be fair but its not exactly easy.  In the beta you could say something like "unit 1 plus unit 2 move to bravo" and unit 1 (the infantry) would get into unit 2 (the transport) and theyd get moving toward bravo.  In the demo you have to select the infantry and press a on the transport to put them in.  Its a pain in the ass, especially on big troop movements.

I Just finished playing the skimish mode of the demo and there seems to be a hell of a lot missing that was originally in the Beta for the game.  The two biggest things are the "plus" and "create group" commands.  Isn't that strange?  Two commands that are essential to playing the game really.  Its very important to be able to move multiple units at the same time, it really saves you ordering 12 units individually.  Also using infantry transports is essentially impossible now.

Does anybody know why this is?  Will they be missing from the final version of the game?  I'm really hoping that their in the final game.  Its so game-breaking that I honustly won't be buying the final version if its missing, its far too annoying ordering multiple units around as it is in the demo.

That said I thought the demo was pretty good.  I didn't use the JSF in the beta and I like their engineers minigun upgrade so maybe I'll give them a try in the full game.

Oh thanks man, after giving it another go I realised why I didn't notice that, I forgot to equip the damn bipod, how shameful. This coming from a guy who's played hundreds of hours of CoD4 multiplayer.

The description of the Bipod for the BAR and the.... um japanese MG lead me to believe that I have to deploy the bipod somehow.  I've tried all of the buttons while standing, crouching behind cover, in windows prone and there doesn't seem to be any noticeable effect at all.  Am I missing something here?
