Man, there sure are a lot of assumptions that everyone else feels exactly the same way you do about everything you just said, some of which was flat out wrong.

I don't begrudge anyone for being disappointed with Destiny, I'm still playing it and I really like it, but there are certainly aspects of it that were disappointing. Still, to say all the blockbuster games are out and are a disapointment so everyone is just playing old games is crazy talk.

Shadow of Mordor was a surprise hit, Bayonetta 2 is killing it with critics, and there are plenty of big holiday games that haven't come out yet. Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 4, fucking Smash Bros. Let's not go writing off the entire holiday release schedule because you didn't like one game.

My mainstay is Shadow Price, which just wrecks in crucible both before and after the patch, though obviously it's a little tougher to use post patch. Before patch I had a blue shotgun that benefited from having two stacking range increase perks that made it stupidly OP, being able to one shot from much further than should have been possible, but after the patch it became useless. Now I use Found Verdict, the raid shotgun.

I also recently picked up the Vex Mythoclast, and despite the nerf I've still found it quite effective in crucible after being upgraded for stability and range. Anyone saying they nerfed it too much for PvP, observe what it is still capable of:

Look how great my team was...

I go through stretches where I play very consistently and others where I pretty much don't play games at all. I've probably played games every day for at least the past 3 or 4 months, but before that I don't think I played anything for a solid 2 or 3 months.

It's still Mass Effect. Maybe it has the least amount of RPG in it out of all the entries but it's still very similar to ME2.

People have dragged the game through the mud over that ending a little too much.

No, it's definitely got more RPG than Mass Effect 2 by a considerable margin. They doubled the level cap, added a bunch more skills and branching skill trees, and there are at least fives times as many unique weapons with added customization and now with actual stats.

Without a doubt. Even back when people were complaining nonstop about the ending, the most common phrasing was "the first 30 hours were fantastic, it's a shame the last 10 minutes were so terrible."

If you haven't played any of Mass Effect 3 yet you're going to have a monumentally better experience than those of thus that played it week 1. It took many months and several pieces of DLC (both free and paid), but the game as it exists now is much better than it was at launch. The ending still isn't great, but it's not as bafflingly terrible as it was originally. The rest of the game is still as great as ever, best gameplay of the series, fantastic character moments, and plenty of satisfying endings to the non-Reaper storylines.

If you enjoyed the first two games you'll definitely enjoy Mass Effect 3. It may not have quite been the sendoff to the trilogy we wanted but it's still damn good.

A few things:

  1. PS4 and Xbox One are now current gen, let's not refer to the current consoles as next gen for 5 years like people were last gen.
  2. Killzone and Battlefield came out last year
  3. Where is Infamous Second Son?

It depends on the property it's based on and what the goals of the specific game are. Some properties have more iconic sound and visuals while others are all about the characters.

@ll_exile_ll: I still don't like Pulse Rifles. They seem to lack the damage of a Scout Rifle and the rate of fire of an Auto Rifle.

They do certainly seem to be the least used, but some of the better ones can kill in two bursts if all six bullets are headshots. They have their place, but most people seem to be preferring the other weapons at this point.

I'll just wait for Bloodborne, I've got enough to play right now anyway.

@jeff: People just wiggle the stick a couple of times to still make it work though.

As someone who plays Crucible, I don't really care to be honest. It seems like one person is doing it at most on a team. It's a disadvantage, but not a big one. 5 on 6 is still fun. I don't really care about winning, I'm just trying to complete my bounties and that is going fine. In fact, the idle people make it a bit easier to complete the headshot bounties for instance.

The people who are super serious about the Crucible seem to form a Fireteam and go into matchmaking that way anyway. I don't think anyone is that bothered by it.

In other Crucible news, I've been getting very lucky with Scout Rifles ever since the patch. I've been consistently getting kill streaks, which I barely ever got before.

Yeah, scout rifles are now totally viable in crucible, which is great. A quick four shots to the head will take someone down, which makes a gun like Vision of Confluence pretty damn effective with it's super high stability and high rate of fire (for a scout rifle).

I feel like primary weapon crucible balance is almost perfect now, each of the four is completely usable and each has specific circumstances where they are ideal.
