I just came from an NXT Live Event, purported to be Finn Balor and the other draftee's last.

Card went something like this:

Mojo Rawley vs. Buddy Murphy
Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. Blake
Bayley and Carmella vs. Mandy and Daria
Hideo Itami vs. Austin Aries
The Revival vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa
Asuka vs. Nia Jax
Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode

Was a pretty awesome event, all told. No real surprises but hell it was all of NXT's biggest names. I met Shinsuke Nakamura and got him to sign a dumb poster I made. All in all a pretty good night.

At the end of the event they all broke kayfabe and congratulated and bid farewell to all the draftees, as well as Tensai, their trainer. It was pretty awesome.

I got Koffing, so I'm pretty happy. That's all the love and happiness I need in a beautiful purple ball.

And if you don't like hearing about it, unplug yourself from the internet and watch Netflix or something. It'll pass just like everything before it.

So I dont know if this was posted before but someone compiled a list of WCW contracts from 96-2000, no wonder this company went out of business.

On a side note I just realized that Raw and the Sony press conference are on at the same time...

That is extraordinarily interesting. I particularly love how, if you read Hulk Hogan's contract, there's a huge section about Marvel in there.

Even in defeat Tye Dillinger is the greatest. Nia Jax / Asuka was my match of the night, closely followed by Alpha / Revival.

The cage match was good but I reckon this feud peaked with their last Takeover match. It's not even Joe or Balor's fault - more that modern WWE cage matches make no sense. The cage is meant to lock the competitors in and add finality to a rivalry, but there's a referee ready to open the door whenever you get near it? Also the whole notion of "escaping" without the risk of climbing over the top is basically the coward's way out. Whenever a babyface tries to exit via the door you're cheering for them to walk away from the fight.

Joe and Balor put on a great show but I can't suspend my disbelief watching WWE cage matches anymore, which I acknowledge is a pretty ridiculous notion but here I am.

Honestly man, if you watch Wrestlemania 2, the cage match is exactly the same thing. They've been doing it that way forever.

@mamba219: Well. Sami and KO have amazing themes which to be fair are NXT specials as well.

Yeah, forgot about Sami's, his is amazing. KO's great but his theme has never stood out to me.

Does anyone else thoroughly enjoy the NXT entrance music? Nakamura, Balor, and Samoa Joe all have great intro themes, way better than all the stuff on the main roster except Taker.

Another yawnworthy shooter. How many identical games can devs create, I wonder?

FF7 is one of the worst paced games I've ever played, particularly once you leave Midgar. As soon as the flashback sequence is over, the game becomes a 1980's Dragon Quest game. Literally nothing of value happens plot-wise until well after Rocket Town.

While I'll agree that overall FF8 is a worse experience, it's certainly better paced.

What?

In Final Fantasy VIII you go from trying to pass your college exams to assassinating an evil witch in space time all over the span of a single story. In between all of this you end up having a concert at a hippie island, and listening to a sappy pop song in space.

Final Fantasy VIII has the most herky-jerky plot I have ever seen in my entire life. The game practically cannot decide on what its genre is for the entire game.

Far be it for me to be a Final Fantasy VIII apologist, but at least you're constantly moving that batshit plot forward, rather than chasing after a mythical villain for 60% of the game while the plot does nothing.

Like don't get me wrong. Final Fantasy VIII is a steaming turd, and I hate it as much as you. But at least the thing keeps you guessing. There's literally no way to predict anything in that game.

Between Final Fantasy VII and VIII, I've never understood why the series is so beloved. This coming from someone who has beaten games 1-12 and considers 4, 6, and 9 very high class RPGs.

"That is to say that this game is very capable of telling an incredibly emotionally charged and fulfilling story. To be honest that’s what I signed up for. That and maybe toss in a few unintentional laughs and plenty of grousing along the way, and you have a recipe for success in my books."

This summarises FF7 so damn well and I'm relieved you get this so early. It'll pull you through the bits which have aged poorly like the weird adventure game mechanics that pop up every so often. 7 would ultimately have been a massive fail if it's pacing wasn't so masterfully done. It's such a stark contrast to the terrible pacing of 8 that I think you'll eventually come to appreciate.

I just have no idea what you're talking about here.

Everything in every RPG involving falls. I swear, they're treated more like Phoenix Downs than actual life-threatening events, and they're the single dumbest thing about the genre to me. I still prefer this genre to any other, though.
