I never have, truthfully. I thought long and hard about it when World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade was about to launch, but, well, I was pretty much responsible for the technical operation of a data center and couldn't do it.

I have to admit though, in my new engineering job, I am thinking real hard about taking a few days off for Wow: Cataclysm. I have so many PAL hours built up I will never get back that I should go ahead and use them.

Though, working several hours a day will still be unavoidable even if I take the day off. That's the sacrifice you make to earn high wages working IT in the USA today.

I say grab the expansion for Dragon Age and go that route. Just a great RPG experience.

Le'Chuck - he was such a jovial antagonist in some weird way to me.  I loved every minute he was on screen.

The Lich King/Arthas Menethil. He was tragic, and yet, wasn't - perhaps because I had personally guided him through his fall from grace.

Sephiroth, for all his hackneyed and common traits. It just felt right to confront and defeat him. And he was truly misdirected for reasons that seemed beyond his control. I wanted to defeat him to save him.

Mother Brain - no reason in particular, I guess. I just hugely enjoyed those days when I was like 7 years old finally finding and defeating her. Then there was the Captain N cartoon, and all that weirdness.

The vague doom you were fighting against during the first generation in Phantasy Star 3.

The Illusive Man: is he enemy, friend? Just such a well sculpted character that I was never sure about. I'm still not quite sure what his agenda is. He could end up being the hero of the story, just a cog in the wheel, or the ultimate enemy. Terrific villain like character.

Yes, if it's awesome great. $60 isn't much for four solid hours of entertainment in my opinion.

Plus I can bring it back to Gamestop for credit and be a part of that whole obvious and non-controversy.

I really do not mean to impugn anyone's opinion, but Christ why is this a big deal? Flamboyant Japanese culture-charged video game protagonist version, or odd Western and equally androgynous version? Find something worthy of caring about.

Gamestop occasionally declines to sell me a new game due to "low stock", even though I can cross the street to Walmart/Kmart/Bestbuy and grab one off their shelves. On every occasion, however, I point this out and they magically produce the game I'm looking for. This only pertains to launch day.

They're a very focused retailer that is forced to operate on a shoe-skin budget. This leads to many bad decisions. They also encourage their workers to partake in marketing behavior that is shameful - more for their workers than the consumer.

This is why they get a bad wrap. They pretend to be a gamer's retreat with boutique benefits, but fail horribly at it.

Why do I still shop there? The employees. Always gamers through and through in my opinion. They know, in other words, but are still a joy to converse with. They also have a great back catalogue of games that I can't find elsewhere. Hate on me for utilizing the used games market, but it really is a consumer benefit.

An extreme side note: they usually employ the only gaming females in my area. I've gotten laid no less than five times from very attractive women I have met at Gamestop. To me, that's worth a few hours of salary.

After work I hovered behind my friends couch, beer in hand, while he did some campaign stuff and then several others joined him online for multi-player fun. I have to say, from what I saw in those 45-or-so minutes, it looked like it was damned good.

After having worked in IT within mostly corporate structures for ten years, I've come to really love Thursdays. Usually devoid of boring meetings, most people are racing to finish up the heavy labor of projects before Friday, and you know that Friday itself will be kind of lax so there's an accepted ease towards the end of the day. Just Friday's left, then the weekend.

Also, it's the common day I take off first for four day weekends - official or not.
