Aside from a lot of (Japanese style) hokiness here and there, and an abundance of 'war is bad' talk, I really like it a lot. That's what got me into the series in the first place, along with Solid Snake and the cool villains (okay, and every other supporting character). Gameplay is good too, at least to me. Why do you think MGS5 was somewhat of a letdown? I don't think it has the best story, but the way it twists and turns making for somewhat of a complex series, all told in long cutscenes (which is both a good and bad thing), it is unique and interesting. Ugh... This makes me kind of sad about MGS. Damn Konami. This made me just watch Greg Kasavin's MGS2 review, ha ha.

@nnickers: That's the end of MGS4. That's what you get launched onto, where the microwave is, two boss fights (Screaming Mantis/Ocelot), and etc. This is just it coming out of the water. It is... Outer Haven! No, but that part is actually shown once you're at the end of Shadow Moses Island and it comes out of the water.

@shagge: I think the story was trying to serve as a way to use multiple styles of horror, rather than trying to be bizarre. It may be an issue to you (and I'm not saying you're wrong to feel that way), but I believe it was an intentional thing they did.

I was somewhat conflicted with the main game when I played it on launch. I thought the way they approached shooting in the game was awkward in how it gave the vibe of being a shooter like RE4/RE5, and yet it was far more about conserving ammo. I tried to conserve ammo, but there were a few sections that felt I should have been getting more ammo than I had (even one boss where I had no ammo and a friendly A.I. had to kill it or something as I ran around hoping not to die). Throughout, it was about getting the exact amount of ammo you need for the moment and no more. From what I understand that last patch that also fixed the aspect ratio, also allowed for more ammo to be found. I had no issue with it being about conserving ammo, just the way it was designed with the layout of stages, the music that played in those sections, and how many enemies are thrown at you.

It just felt like it was trying to be two things at once from what I remember. The horror aspect of being in confined areas with unkillable, often times hideous looking creatures was tense and effective. I'm thinking about replaying the game to see if I can appreciate the game any more than I had in the past because the sequel is coming out this year which I have a bit of interest in as it looks like a more personal story. I just hope they can pull it off. How was the DLC, and would you recommend it, especially considering the sequel is coming? I'd probably go through the main game again first to refresh my memory. From what I understand, the DLC isn't much (or at all?) about the shooting. Lastly, on somewhat of an off topic note, I'd like to ask who else here is interested in the sequel? And, did you like the first game?

You can't really take my word for it as I played none of fifteen, well, maybe five minutes of it (my brother has played a lot of it, and I watched some of it as I was doing other things), and I've only played fifteen hours of twelve on the PS2, but in my experience, I liked twelve a lot more. Honestly, I don't know about story and characters. I only got so far as to the (what I believe is the infamous section) that has Vaan running around a town saying something like 'I am thee Basch Fon Ronsenburg!' Outside of the story and characters which I'd have to play more of the game to say, Final Fantasy XII might be my favorite Final Fantasy game. I loved the world of Ivalice in twelve as far as I've explored; the way it's set up for you to explore and pick up side activities and how it's connected. The combat is fun in my opinion as well even though it can take time with its grinding. We know that on the PS4 version though that this is somewhat alleviated. You know what I find kind of funny? On PSN, the description for twelve says 'now better, and easier than ever!' I never thought 'easier' was a selling point for many gamers, ha ha.

I just checked a guide to see if my memory served me right, but I got past that section where he says that; a little past it. I got to Ogir-Yensa Sandsea or The Tomb of Raithwall and then stopped. Another thing, I think I'm actually going to go buy twelve on PS4 today. I'd love to play it when I get it, but it's actually a birthday present for my brother. He's a bigger JRPG, Final Fantasy fan, and twelve is the only one he didn't finish and he'd like to before me.

@ripelivejam: I understand that view, and I agree that games should be front and center, but it's too bare to me still, and it doesn't have to be. I don't need things like Netflix or what have you, that's not what I'm talking about at all. Like I said as an example, the Wii U had the one thing where it'd give the date and amount of time played, that was cool. Switch's version of that is bad. Pretty boring overall. Even the store seems bare. Not even cheery music plays which has been a staple with Nintendo for the last couple of consoles at least. It needs improvement or just more games that I want to play. I'm also hoping they release older-gen titles, like GameCube games. I have most of the games that are worth having on the system, but if they could put it in HD, then that'd be awesome. Also, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime trilogy HD, with the use of the pro controller. I'd even re-buy Skyward Sword despite it being my least favorite latest Zelda game if it was in HD and used the pro controller.

Actually, I just got the system on the twelfth of this month. The UI is easy to navigate, but it's too bare and boring. As for games, the only one I want to play is Zelda and a bit of Mario Kart 8 right now. My brother got Cave Story + but he wants to go through it first, so it's not something I am trying to play right now. Zelda was great but I'm disappointed in the UI and lack of games. I might try the Fast RMX. The things you can do with the system is very basic, so I hope that's improved on later. Like Wii U's ability to show the players the dates you played on, and for how long. That was really neat. You can't really do anything with friends on there except, accept it, deny it or favorite it as well as see what games they played and for how long (though not an exact number).

I just woke up, and I wondered if I'm done with the Switch right now; whether I should play more Zelda (which would only be to go through the master trials) or see what's available on the PS4 and Xbox One since I haven't been on those systems for a while as I've been playing the Switch. The system is fine, no real issue. I never wanted to play the console as a handheld, so I've only done it once, and it isn't comfortable. The placement of the joy-cons when attached feels like it fits little kids' hands. The screen is fine. The only 'glitch' I ran into is that when it's docked, I think if you don't place the system in entirely correct (even if the little dock shows green), you can get some glitches.

On and off red outlines around the UI on the main screen happened yesterday, so I had to take it out and put it back in, which fixed it. It kind of reminded me of old systems like SNES or Genesis that might mess up or something. I'm not sure if it was the system or Zelda, but there were a few times where a very quick, and slight line flashed across the screen on a few occasions as I played Zelda. With the Switch, the only games I want to play are the exclusives and non-exclusive titles that have some benefit on the Switch version, and I'm honestly hoping there are games like that in the way of content. I would feel weird to start playing another system already after just playing one game, but there really isn't anything I want to play right now on there other than maybe more Zelda. I guess Splatoon 2 is out now. My brother is going to get that, so I'll try that with him. It's otherwise not my kind of game.

Lastly, do they show all the games on the store? It doesn't show an 'all games available' kind of tab. Oh, and I use the Pro controller; it's good, though I could argue the trigger are worse as they're more 'clicky' than the PS4 and One's but right now there's no issue with them.

Right now, PS4 by a long shot. I got a Switch on the 12th, and I got Zelda and my brother got Cave Story +. I put a lot of hours into Zelda and finished it two days ago. I really enjoyed it, but from the get-go, I realized the Switch right now is super bare, and I am hoping exclusives come soon because it's dismal right now. The PS4 already has a multitude of games to play in comparison to what Switch has, which is basically... well, nothing of note in my opinion. I guess if we're talking about this year, yeah Mario is coming. And I don't want to dismiss how good that game may be, and I'm excited about it, but again, a number of great games that can be played on the PS4 compared to one or the few games on the Switch as far as we know, is a good reason to get a PS4 sooner than a Switch. Maybe get a Switch when it gets more games, while you play the games that had already come out on the PS4 alongside new ones that come out. There are other games on the Switch coming this year that isn't Mario, but it's the one you mentioned, so it's the one I talked about. If you're interested in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, that might make you want a Switch more. I would say the PS4 though.

@roomrunner: Having seen a bunch of David Lynch's work, I would say everything in Twin Peaks is intentional.

Just wanted to say, I liked this last episode. It had some good, awkward humor, or the moments of 'wtf is going on' coupled with me laughing. The entire Shelly, Bobby moment was good. I also couldn't stop giggling at just how different Bobby as a character is now, and, at least to me, Dana Ashbrook pulling it off really well. Then, the part with the dead kid puking out water over the big, loud yelling woman in the car was hilarious. It feels awkward liking a character that David Lynch both created and plays, almost like it's self-serving, even though I know it probably isn't on his part. It was cool to finally see them encounter the coal-covered looking hobo guys. And I really appreciate that they made a great new character out of the new Truman, instead of just replacing the old, which is what I expected and would have been disappointed by. Some might say he's boring, but to me, like the original Truman (his brother), it is one of the aspects that bring normalcy to an outlandish world, so to me it's interesting, and I also just like him because he doesn't look down on characters in Twin Peaks just because they're awkward. Also, notice how Gordon's hand was shaking just like in the original Twin Peak's, where a bunch of characters' hands would just randomly shake? And yeah, I liked the cherry pie moment.
