I hope the biggest feedback they take from everything recently is that the site seems to be the most popular it's ever been right now and their e3 coverage just did huge numbers. Clearly the majority of people think they're doing great and going in the right direction with decisions like commentating over the press conferences. These seem like the right hires to keep it going.

For the people asking that didn't see the deleted tweets, this was the worst one IMO. Attacking the staff for what random people on twitter said is ridiculous.

I haven't been following all the hoopla, nor do I have any knowledge of Jason's and Dan's backgrounds (Giantbomb is the only videogame site I have time to follow), so my comments may come off as totally ignorant:

Do people want more racially and gender diverse hires so they can bring in diverse opinions from the original core? If so, are they not acknowledging that gender and race are not the only contributing factors of diverse opinions? I mean, Jason and Dan can have different backgrounds/educations/cultural upbringings that would lead to opinions and perspectives that are different to the rest of the GB Squad. I believe the members of the original GB Squad have different backgrounds, which lead to their specific perspectives and interests on various items.

Yeah, they all have diverse opinions on the games and genres they like. Off the top of my head: Brad is the only one that likes MOBA's. Vinny cares a lot about stories in games. Jeff cares about gameplay and mechanics the most. Patrick likes horror games and a few other genres the other guys don't like. Alex is the only one that will touch a sports game.

Not sure what kind of radical differing opinions people are expecting about video games. Dan is pretty much the perfect choice for what they do and has a ton of experience with long videos and is a pretty funny dude. The whole goal is to make great video content and cover the games they want to, and it seems like these hires are perfect for that.

Haven't sales on the last gen consoles been really bad anyway? I remember reading something from EA I think where they said last gen sales have dropped off faster than they thought. And in the NPD's the ps4 and xbone versions are usually higher than the last gen systems. While the older systems obviously have a much bigger install base, most of those people don't seem to be actively buying new games.

I don't hate him or anything but I do find him kinda annoying and don't watch any of his stuff. He just talks way too much and takes way too long to describe the simplest things. There are only so many times I can hear someone talk for 10 minutes straight about whatever game they're playing using the most unnatural sounding, flowery vocabulary to describe any slightly interesting mechanic. No Patrick, a longer sword swinging animation is not "profoundly fascinating."

Played for like 6 hours so far. At first with just the smoke power I felt kind of weak and the traversal wasn't that fast, but once I got the neon power everything fell into place and it's been amazing. Can't wait to play some more.

@freshbandito: I did not have them do anything. I did not hypnotize or command. He wanted to get one of the new gaming mahines and asked my advice. He can afford it and the cost will probably not come down much for at least a year or two. As for calling it a paper weight, that is absurd. There are good games available for both machines and for someone who doesn't play much the software drought is not a big deal. By the time he works through Dead Rising 3 and NBA2K14 Titanfall will have been out for awhile. By the time he is done with Titanfall it will be 2015 and there will be plenty.

If he doesn't care about graphics and mostly plays sports games, and you think he'd like Titanfall, you should have just told him to get a 360. Rumor is that the 360 version isn't even very far behind the Xbone version, anyway. Most of the other stuff the xbone does can just be done with a tablet or whatever smart device he has next to him, and changing your tv channel 3 seconds faster(if the voice command actually works) and being able to make internet explorer take up 1/4 of your tv screen isn't worth $500.

Good to see their big plans for the next few years, it tells me I can skip getting an xbone. It kinda looks like a joke list someone would make to show that these companies never do anything new and it's the same stuff over and over. I mean, the big excitement in that thread is for a port of Halo 2...

I don't know if people are aware, since I didn't bother to read through the entire thread, but Xbox One and PS4 versions are being developed at two different studios.

Nixxes made the PS4 version and gave support to United Front Games who made the Xbox One version. Which could be another reason other than the hardware difference, as to why there are such a difference in the frame-rate between the two versions.

EDIT: Here is the link to Nixxes website where they state the above: http://www.nixxes.com/nixxes/newsdetail/20-uk/news/167-trhd-announced

I'm going to guess that that's exactly to reason for the differences. Nixxes does nothing but port jobs(and really damn good ones at that) while United Front is an actual developer who is, presumably, focusing on their own game(s) right now. That they didn't just give Nixxes both versions seems completely nonsensical to me.

Then what's the excuse for all the other games that are worse on Xbone? They probably could have went 720p/60fps but since this Tomb Raider port to next gen is all about making it look nicer visually they decided to go for 1080p/30. The PS4 didn't have to make that choice. Every game that did get to 1080 on xbone (basically the sports games and forza) had to sacrifice other stuff too. Forza has no AA with jaggies everywhere and pre-baked lighting,no day/night cycle, etc. Not sure why people are still blaming devs for this stuff when it's clearly the limitations of the Xbone.

From IGN:

"A Square Enix spokesperson issued the following statement to IGN: "Both platforms offer the same outstanding Tomb Raider experience. Delivering the core Tomb Raider gameplay at native 1080p and running at 30fps was always our primary goal given the type of experience Tomb Raider is and the exploration we want players to do. Anything beyond 30fps for this version is gravy."

It's already been confirmed by the executive producer and the people that have played the game at a pre-release event to be 60. All this means is that they don't want to lower the Xbone sales by saying, "Yeah the PS4 version is better." Instead they say they targeted 30fps for both and the higher fps on PS4 is "gravy."
