As far as 'fueling your burgeoning nihilism regarding the decency of peoples', people act differently on the internet due to the anonymity of it, so while some people act like dickish assholes, others act like elitists (That's you, unless you talk like that to your friends [assuming you have any, which if you talk like that I assume you don't])

Ok man, here's the thing. If you're writing a public note for all to see, even if it's a notice that you're leaving, isn't that a cry for attention in itself? One might even say it's "attention whore-like".
 
Not that you're an attention whore or anything, but if you had a problem with others, there's no need to bring it up and cry "WOE is ME!" in some dumb thread. You could either talk to others about the problem, or ignore it and focus on the good that Giant Bombers bring to the world.
