" Keep on playing the same games folks, I'll keep all the awesome ones for myself. "
Oh man, you have some good taste my friend. First God Hand, the best beat 'em up ever, then all the Castlevania themes! I was gonna put the NES Castlevania game over bit as a joke, 'cause it sure gets played a lot out of my cartridge :P You also remind me to finish Oden Sphere.
Anyways, here's my two cents from my favorite PS2 rpg. I like a lot of this game, but this is just one I picked for sake of brevity. And if you haven't played this game, you should really check it out.
I know this is an old thread, but maybe you'll still check these out. Old school ones like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale are pretty cool if you can get over the graphics. Also, although I haven't finished it yet the Witcher seems really fun. If you have a PS2 or BC PS3 I'd recommend Rogue Galaxy. Generic story, but very fun and engrossing all the same. Valkyria Chronicles is a great SRPG on PS3 if you have one, one of my most recent favorite games, definitely wins out this generation in my book.
Toss up between Kid A and The Bends for me, I love most of their stuff though. Street spirit is such a sad and emotionally draining song, I almost cry everytime but it's so brilliant. I love the variety and that the band seems to keep flowing in and out of genres as they progress musically.
Maybe its just me and I'm crazy, but I'd say start with Castlevania 1 for NES (can be downloaded via VC for Wii), its still probably my fave, closely followed by II and Dawn of Sorrow. I feel like 1 is so much better than Castlevania Chronicles for some reason, but I could be slightly biased by the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia :P
Edit: And Castlevania 1 has the classic music that defined the series, and Dawn of Sorrow is pretty good musically as well. The music draws me towards the series about as much as the gameplay.
Shatter, Wipeout Fury, and some Bionic Commando Rearmed (Trophies for PS3 are out now guys!) for me...as long as it doesn't interfere with tennis and pool
