The lack of Wii/Wii U/3DS crossplay is fucking unexcusable.

What bothers me so much about this is how people were and still are excusing Phil's behaviour. Like he's somehow justified in all the hate he slings out, but needs to be treated as some delicate flower because he made a game people liked. Anybody with his personality who hadn't made a successful would have been banned from most community websites. I found it funny that I read the "Assholes are Assholes" (http://www.merseyremakes.co.uk/gibber/2013/07/assholes-are-assholes/) piece you linked to on Worth Reading literally right before Fez II got cancelled, because I do feel like people were just propping up Phil's behaviour and not sitting him down to say "hey, you might want to chill out a bit... we're worried about you".

Yes, I completely agree that it sucks that there exist this subsection of humanity that seemingly only exists to tear you down and make you feel like a sack of shit, if even only to make themselves feel better. And not even just online. And it's terrible that online people can say the horrible things that they do (although maybe not for much longer, if Justin Carter's case becomes the norm). But it does exist, and it should be common knowledge when you throw out that much hate you're going to get it back in spades, especially if you choose to engage with those sorts of people. I don't care what cute pop culture reference you're making, you don't tell someone to kill themselves. And if you're doing in in response to them saying you're an whiny asshole? You're kind of only proving their point. Being a public figure means you get the public's attention, for better or for worse. There are plenty of very successful indie devs who don't go for the spotlight like he does, and just as many devs who are

It is a shame that he wound up leaving this way, but I do hope he takes some time to reflect on what he's done, and how he's carried himself since becoming a big deal. And I hope those close to him give him the support he needs right now, because whether or not he does come back to video games I think he really needs some help.

I do suppose this means though that Fez on 360 will never be patched. Shame, I hear it was a pretty good experience.

Some very sad news, and a great loss. You've given me countless hours of entertainment over the years, (along with the rest of the Giant Bomb crew) convinced me of the viability of video and streaming content, and bummed a smoke off of me at PAX a few years ago. You will be dearly missed duder.

I got into it last week. It's not bad. Still buggy as all hell though, like how my friends can't invite me into their guild, but I get invites from randoms just fine. :)

I just started playing it on 360 last week, joined a few friends I play Battlefield with who gave it a shot. It's fun for now, but we'll see if I get tired of it like I do with most MMOs.

Actually I would have loved to hear about LEGO and Green Day Rock Band. I still remember my first reaction to the latter's announcement: "Really? This is their followup to the Beatles? I mean, Dookie is awesome, but... fucking... Green Day?"

That AC/DC pack was a rip off, but thankfully I managed to get it for $10. Exported the songs, and I don't think I've touched that disc since. Nostalgia-wise, Live is one of my favourite albums so that was an awesome treat.

Membership goes up for renewal tomorrow, woo! I was going to ask what happens to those whose memberships come up on the 10th/11th, although it sounds like they'd just get processed the next day.

@Demoskinos: Yes, but unless he is an idiot (which I'm pretty sure he isn't, because he acknowledges this) then he knows it's an unflattering way to portray his current job, and that his employer would not appreciate it. And as he was trying to get attention from it, obviously it was going to eventually come to the attention of his bosses and he'd be canned.

Getting a message out and/or trying to get a developer job aside, unless he quit he was going to get fired eventually, and he would be a fool if he didn't realize this at the time.

Pretty dumb of him to publicly insult his employers like that, but maybe that's what he wanted.

A lot of people are stuck in horrible jobs, and most don't have the courage/willingness to do anything about it either out of complacency or financial/family obligations. Looking for a job sucks, and there's no guarantee you'll get something better than what you have now. At least this way he's forced himself to pursue a new job, and maybe even get something that won't continue to crush his spirit. Plus all the attention his game has gotten will surely help if that's the path he wants to take.

Still kind of a dick way about it though.
