"It's all very well listing podcasts, but this is meant to be a GiantBomb community thread. I don't think any of those podcasts - except BSHAF - are actually about GiantBomb, and so I don't think there is any need for them to be listed... anyone agree?"
The thread is meant to be about great content created by the users of GB, not just something that only relates to GB. Also, BSHAF in its current form is much more of an IRC podcast than a full blown GB bombcast, but that is just my personal opinion."
Frequent guests and inside jokes aside, BSHAF is very much dedicated to bringing up and talking about all aspects of the community. Even if there is a large correlation between the most active members of the community and IRC dwellers."
Not really. IRC is but a small subset of the userbase and not really a good representation of it's makeup, nor do they represent everyone. We're trying to get away from this mistaken impression that IRC folks are "the" community. When it comes down to it, there are maybe 20 or so regularly active members that chat in IRC - that is nothing compared to how many users are active on the forums every day, or who may be actively commenting on articles or editing the wiki all the time.
To further illustrate my point, take a quick glance at the most recent 50 topics on the forums and tell me how many IRC folks names' you see. Probably not very many. In fact, IRC seems to appeal to people that don't like message boards that much - I know that a great deal of the IRC rarely, if ever, posts on the forums. They prefer chatting, which is totally cool, but please don't make the mistake of calling those people "the community", it's really a disservice to the hundreds and thousands of other users who are dedicated to this site, yet couldn't be less interested in IRC."
