@Alwaysrun: I would assume it is a response to the vocal minority of people commenting on the Kickstarter saying things along the lines of "If we are trusting you with our money for a game we haven't seen shouldn't you trust us with a DRM free copy?".
Or Tim could have some evil plan in his evil tower to deviously try and rope in more money by pandering to people. Surely this is much more likely.
I built a MAME cab years back and at first it was really super awesome. After the years passed and I moved to a few different places it got harder and harder to deal with, but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it considering how much time and effort I put into building it. My most recent place the door frames in the hallway were about an inch too small to fit it through. We tried over and over and over to figure out a way to get it in the place and it was flat not going to happen. Now it is unfortunately in storage.
Then I imported a few really awesome arcade sticks from China. Those with the combination of an HTPC and TV makes it way more accessible for everyone to gather around and enjoy and I can put them away in the closet when not being used. Also they work on Ps3 and 360 so stuff like SF4 is great.
So my advice is unless you have your heart completely dedicated to maintaining and lugging around a heavy, massive, awkward box (they are way worse than a couch or a bed, believe me) and absolutely must have the stand up arcade experience... just get some awesome arcade sticks and figure out a way to get a decent PC hooked up to your TV. I've been much happier with this setup.
AVOID X-Arcade! I imported a few Qanba Q4 RAFs. Hori is good. The SF IV TE sticks can be good, not sure how well they work with MAME.
Left it running all day after a fresh charge and seems like it was just a coincidence. They did put an update out today so who knows if it fixed anything. It seemed like it was fine even before the update though.
I got invited to the beta over the weekend and it has a feature to run all the time so you can get chat messages and junk. I turned it on and noticed my battery life drop significantly. My phone died before I had the sense to check the battery usage so it could be a coincidence. I am going to do a better test when I get home and it is fully charged. Curious if anyone else has noticed similar?
Android. I normally get 1-3 days out of a full charge depending on how much I use it. Full charge after running steam app phone was dead 5 - 6 hours later.
Around $70 - $80 a month. I live in the 'burbs and work downtown and have about a 30 min commute one way. Made sure when I bought my car to get one with 30+ MPG.
Not to be that guy, but I am always confused when people with massive cars get mad at gas prices. I don't mean that in a douchey, holier than thou, way, but more of a... didn't you know what you were getting into? Why are you shocked when your massively inefficient house on wheels with a pool for a gas tank cost loads and loads of money when the price goes up?
I don't know, I just have a hard time feeling any sympathy.
(edit: I like that I am surrounded by people holding on to their Christmas avatars. We are the neighbourhood of people too lazy to take down their lights way after the holidays. Soldier on!)
