Well, hey now. I absolutely agree that interactive design is art, but there's no reason to defensively diminish other mediums.

Edit: Or maybe I should say if it doesn't hit you, it doesn't hit you. The word "get" implies that enjoyment is a puzzle you're responsible for solving.

Great piece as usual Patrick, although your bit about Stranger's Wrath has reminded me how much I dislike the adjectives 'overrated' and 'underrated'. They don't actually describe anything, they just orient you on the spectrum of popular opinion. Surely there are more honest, useful discussions to be had.

This is seriously kinda upsetting. The Persona team is literally the one team I can think of who include honest, positive treatments of sexual minorities in their games.

"Man fuck that game" with pure disdain. This isn't the first time. I think 13-2 discussion turned into a 7 hate fest as well.

"Man, fuck that game" isn't a statement of pure disdain. It's just a reaction to something you don't like. I don't like mustard. If offered mustard, I'm liable to say "Man, fuck mustard." Am I begrudging anyone else their enjoyment of mustard? Do I need to be lectured to about mustard's objectively excellent qualities and its positive influence on the history of condiments? Man, fuck that.
