@Maystack: There is a free trial of the first game; it took ages for them to implement a free trial though. Don't expect Guild Wars 2 to have a free trial for at least two years if Guild Wars 1 is any indication.

@Dark_Lord_Spam: It has effective distance and damage, in addition to having an immobilize and vulnerability (on the same skill!). The second ability, Smite is the real odd one out. It hits random locations within its area of effect so the damage output from the scepter is lower than you'd think. As for torch, it's actually not that great as a damage weapon - it's actually a ridiculously good condition remover as odd as that might seem. Still, lighting yourself on fire is pretty damn cool to see.

It's pretty good, essentially very similar to what I created as a guardian variant to Taugrims' Captain Hammer. I prefer the use of more control over more damage on a defensive setup, but to each his own. The use of a spirit weapon is something I probably should have iterated into the defensive guardian earlier, but never bothered to do. The only glaring thing I can see is that you chose Honor VI - Pure of Heart (Aegis heals on removal) as a major trait; the last time I tried using this, the heal was very weak despite the fact that Aegis is hard to come by (once every 40s on your build). While that may have been changed, I believe it is better served with Honor X - Writ of the Merciful (Symbols heal allies). The Mace can apply a symbol every 8s and (at last check) it heals for far more than the other major trait, it seems the better choice, though it does nothing for you while wielding the sword.

For comparison, this is my v1 Guardian variant to the Captain Hammer:

@ONIKAGEI: Just to add to what said, don't think of it as EU having only a leader and two officers, but that the guild has leaders and officers from every region, covering (as best we can) the various hours of the day.

@Dixavd: I think most people weren't even fully aware how to build siege weapons or coordinate with others (squads and whatnot). I suspect that 2 weeks after launch, you'll be seeing a bunch of really compelling WvW. I mean, I've invested probably 80 hours into the game over the different betas. I couldn't tell you how to build siege items. I know that there are blueprints, and I think there's a vendor that sells 'em. But they also require supply, right? I think you get my point.

BWE2. , other duders (I'm sorry I've forgotten your names!) and I spent 16 hours straight in WvW dominating (and in the last few hours, successfully defending against sieges) against the other servers. You won't have to wait two weeks, we've already made strategies and will be ready on launch. The bigger issue we had was that it was costly to siege and upgrade, but siege weapon costs have gone down dramatically since then. As for building siege weapons, it's just get a blueprint (find/buy them), double click to equip and use the skill to place the siege weapon wherever. That creates the foundation of the siege weapon, at which point players may interact to give it supply. Siege weapons cost anywhere from 20 to 100 supply and a player can only carry 10 at most. You grab supply from supply depots at supply camps, towers or keeps.

It is totally plausible to me that people will have days disappear before their eyes without them even realizing it.

The betas did this to some of us, and those were for only three days.

@shinboy630: True 'nuff. Though I'm a bit upset they didn't go with the Sauron armor.

I've had my silver Elite Kurzick. It's time for something new.

When most content of mmos is based off of loot

Are you sure you have the right words there? Because the content of most MMOs is not loot but their gameplay. Sure, they might artificially extend the life of their game by making you look for better gear to compete but this game has no subscription fees so the gear treadmill exercise makes no sense.

therefore: what is the point of this one?

Assuming you have gear appropriate for your level, which you still need from 1-80, to enjoy the content of the game. In the case of sPvP where you are already level 80 with ready access to level 80 equipment, it's to win despite level and equipment parity.

If my question reveals weak points or holes in a games logic it is not trolling~

Yet playing devils advocate implies you prefer a system where you either:

1. You grind for better equipment for no reason. At that point, why?

2. You grind for better equipment to successfully complete content.

What Arenanet has done is remove those two situations, because they don't add to a game, content-wise.

Have they mentioned anything about having to download a new client for the release version? Or do we just keep updating our beta clients? On and unrelated note - have they said how we retrieve our HOM rewrads? Is it just /bonus type thing like in GW1?

As far as I've heard, you go to your home instance to pick them up, but nothing has been said on what happens in between those two steps.
