Do we really need to get into the Ideal vs Implementation argument on a topic as silly as this one? Why does every criticism or praise of Communism lead to this same discussion? As long as people are having to argue against ideals over reality, it's like having a discussion on whether there's a god or not. Unless everyone is amazingly cordial, respectful, and considerate, this isn't going to go anywhere anytime soon.

Now, on the actual topic, I'd say the simplest answer is: The Nazis lost. The Communist regimes haven't fully lost yet. If China ever moves past communism, you'll probably see more movies about the abuses of Mao's revolution. Though, you -have- seen movies about Russian communists losing, and even Cuba is a decent evil in movies. The side that loses is generally the one that gets made into the enemies and evils of art and media. Communism hasn't fully lost, and so, it's still a while before they're a bigger evil in wider media.

Plus, if you only look at "movies" as what comes out of Hollywood, you won't have a full impression of what is out there. There -are- movies about Chinese communist abuses; it just isn't the bugbear of Western film that general fascism is. There's not much more to it; it's not some kind of vast conspiracy or anything.

Just... be cool, duders. We don't need more idiotic arguments. We can have a nice discussion if we just leave our egos at the door a bit.

Your connection speed looks fine. Steam is just downloading slower right now during the Sale. I usually get 2MB/s or so from Steam, but right now, it's not that great.

@falserelic: I'm pretty sure he'll be getting less views once a mod finally gets wind of this.

@TruthTellah: I think one of the largest problems in this industry is that everyone wants to hit it big. They want to create the next Braid, Super Meat Boy, or even Fez, but don't want to have to wait 4-5 years developing it in their house. I cannot for the life of me fathom why a 2D side-scrolling brawler would cost $80,000 to fund, especially from someone who doesn't even have a build.

Where did he pull that number form? Is there some sort of database out there that averages how much a title will cost to generate? I can guarantee you it didn't cost $80,000 to fund Dust: An Elysian Tail, and that has the fidelity of a published title as well as the support of only one person.

heh. Dust: An Elysian Tail has cost a heck of a lot more than $80k to fund, and the same can be said of those other games. The money here most-likely wouldn't fund a whole game; it's probably more for start-up capital just to get it going and get more real funding.

The only thing I hate is when there is nothing really to "show" on a Kick-starter. This is one of them. There is nothing of the actual game, which gives me zero reason to be interested.

Agreed. Good Kickstarters are the ones which actually have a foundation to build off. Right now, I see nothing that would inspire confidence that there's a real, quality project there.

I'd say you won't want to go back to 3 after playing 4, but 5 is its own bird. So, if you want to play all of them, go 3, 4, 5. If you just want to have a good time, as it's your first experience with Civ, I'd say go with 4 and then 5.

Civ 3 was great for its time, but in my opinion, 4 is simply better for a new player. Though, Civ fans generally disagree on 3 vs 4, and I'm sure other Civ fans in this thread may disagree with me. ha. You'll usually like one and dislike the other(though they're both pretty high-quality; it's more about personal preference). So, give 4 a shot, if it isn't for you, then fall back on 3 and see if its pace is a bit more to your liking. Either way, play Civ 5 last, as it changes things up and will probably make it hardest to go back.

I would support a Bad Dudes sequel if the main characters were based off Jeff and Ryan in Time Trotters.

Still hitting Patrick while he's down? That's cold, ST.

I have more instances of wishing store clerks would punch the crap out of jerk customers than the other way around.

#3: L.A. Noire.

Though, they're all great choices.
