Tables are Being Retired on the Wiki Soon!

As you may are may not be aware of the staff are experimenting with a new text editor. They like to call it the site "parchment," and the proper website designer term is "wysiwyg editor." With this there will be changes to the way things are formatted on the wiki. The most notable being that the staff wish to eventually cease the use of tables to properly format images and text without any issues. I will let site designer Mike speak for himself:

Hey guys [mods], I added a new button to the table toolbar. It's called magic show. We're trying to get away from using tables in wiki layouts where possible. Clicking on that button should remove the table without removing the content of the table. Dave likened it to pulling the table cloth off a table and keeping the dinnerware on top. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it since it's not clear what it does.

All I can say is Mission Accomplished. I know I'm not supposed to reveal private messages to mods only to the community all the time but this seems like it's worth publishing. Also if you wanted to know how fellow mod CitizenKane felt about this announcement he published this .gif as his response:

Didn't realize tables were that big a problem.

Tried it on the Blur page on two different tables and it jumbled everything up. Little scared to use it as it is now (in beta.)

Does that mean...I'm a mod?

Oh, the POWER!

kidding, kidding. Obviously there's some kinks to be worked out. So, consider my previous post a bug report. I guess.

I was curious how this Magic Show works, and wow, it can totally fuck things up. I went to the Tiger Woods 12 page, and tried it on the currently wonderful table that Marino put together. Right now it lists all the courses and what platforms they are on, and whether or not they are DLC. Hitting the Magic Show button puts them all in an over-long list, and loses any platform info. Honestly, there are certain instances (like this one) where a table is the most efficient way to convey information.

@ZombiePie but won't certain wiki pages feel messy because of the lack of tables? I wrote an entire thing about film reels and what movies they reference on the l.a. noire page and I can't see that existing outside of a table

This is great.
It really is a pain in the ass when people abuse tables for formatting, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Nothing.
Until now.

I bet he was really smug after he thought that one up :|

I feel so dumb, I didn't even catch that reading through it -_-. I just love that the engineers came up with a solution with the word magic in it, because really, isn't that everything Whiskey Media does?

It's the pause that makes that soulless gif truly horrifying. Let me show you how it's done:
