Respawn Entertainment
Company »
Formed by ex-Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, Respawn Entertainment is a game development company owned by EA.
West & Zampella create new studio with EA!
So that's something! Not really surprising I guess but I think they'll find a better home with EA. Especially now that EA seemingly has a different focus than they did back in the Medal of Honor days.
EA must have been willing to pay whatever it cost to get these guys on board.
edit: fixed the link
The litigation is really gonna get bloody now. No way in hell is Activision going to let the Modern Warfare name be put on an EA game. Would be funny though if it happened.
Heh. I guess it was expected, but I still find this extremely funny. Respawn Entertainment, hmm? Looking forward to seeing what comes out of them.
I give Activision two more top selling modern warfare games before people jump ships.
Hopefully they can revamp GH otherwise they're in the shit
Predictable, but I bet Activision are literally seething.
Also: I suspect this will mark the end of Infinity Ward as that team all move over to Respawn.
Not surprising. I'm calling it now, in five to ten years they storm out on EA into the arms of Activision and the cycle repeats itself.
Also forgot to mention that this is only going to add fuel to counter-suit Activision filed not that long ago. Looks like West & Zampella really were scouting for new digs with other publishers before getting sacked if they managed to hook up a deal with EA overnight.

I mean, I see where you're coming from, but wouldn't you think that any publisher that could afford it would have been writing up potential contracts for those guys the second the news broke? A month isn't necessarily overnight.
It's possible but Activision's gonna need some serious rock-solid evidence if they're gonna claim something like that" Not surprising. " "Cost of a single Javelin Missile: $80,000" The look on Bobby Kotick's face when the Call Of Duty franchise falls apart: Priceless. "
fucking lol
I can't see this coming in yet another full circle. EA has gone through serious growing pains since their first departure, and this isn't their first transformation. Their history has been kind of fluid with the times. This shit pretty much feels like providence.
Activision, on the other hand, has been a beast that has long evolved along a single path from failure to the disgusting entity it is now. A tale which has basically been Kotick's. IMO the only possible futures for them are either a continued ascent like Microsoft (in which they never have to adjust because of their position and remain a forever powerful force), or Kotick's evil ass runs his course of leadership and Activision as a publisher recedes to their previous point. Or folds.
There's also the wildcard: another publisher assumes dominance. Hell, even Ubisoft could still do that. And maybe they (Infinity Ward dudes) could end up there. Who knows.
