Still sounds like a fun time to me.

Still gonna buy it even though Ryan says the gameplay is tolerable.  I love all of Tim Schafer's work and this definately looks like a fun one!  Even though he says it is short, I like to explore EVERYTHING!!!  I had like 80 hours clocked into Fallout 3 before I even got to the Brotherhood of Steel HQ!!!  So I will definately make this one last as long as possible!!!

This is the first review on Giant Bomb I strongly disagree with, but Ryan makes a good case for himself, and reviews are little more than opinions anyway. However, I think Brutal Legend is a 5-star game, and one of my favorites of the year. It's no Uncharted 2 by any means, but as fan service for hardcore metal fans, it's an outstanding experience.
 
Simple review: If you understand the significance of the name "Eddie Riggs," this game will make you pee yourself with happiness.

I agree on almost all points, my self I would give it a four out of five. I think that the big problem with the RTS is trying to play it like other RTS. You gotta creep and hold in  this one. Not a bad game so not for everyone, the demo is very misleading for shame.

I actually agree with the 3/5 stars, even though I absolutely love the game. It's a game for metalheads, and if you're not into metal you probably won't appreciate it as much. My only disappointment with the review is that not one but twice, Ryan felt the need to voice his opinion that metal is only for teenagers. 

Doesn't look that interesting to me.  I did like the demo but every review I've seen said the game doesn't play like the demo when it turns into a RTS.  From what I've seen I'm gonna wait til someone trades it into my store to play it.  I need to save my money for Borderlands, Demon's Souls, SVR10, Tekken 6, COD, Assassin's Creed 2, etc, etc,  I'm sure I can let this one pass for now.  =)

3 Stars? I'd say it's a 4...
 
Anyways good review as always.

Wow this game really is turning in to a 'reviewers verses gamers' affair.  Seems like every site is dinging it for the same reasons but at the same time everyone I talk to (close friends included) who's already playing it says its awesome and the rts stuff is just fine if you take the time to figure it out.
 
Meh whatever I'll find out for myself tomorrow when I get my own copy.  I've got tonnes of games in my collection I've thought were amazing but got reviewed terribly, thats just how it goes, no point getting so angry about it.

The people hating are just fucking ridiculous.

The atmosphere and comedy does look great but I cringe at a game that is a console RTS and from Ryan's complaints it seems like I am not wrong for doing so.

Any player who does not try this game is doing themselves a disservice. I don't know if Ryan still has his TANG cap on, is taking gaming to seriously, or is just chugging back haterade but this game deserves a much stronger nod than a 3 out of 5.

Every time I see one of my favorite sites review a game far outside the average scores, I am very dissappointed in them, because clearly, they are not on the same level as everyone else. 

Why in the sam. fucking. hell. does the internet need a hundred goddamn game review sites if they're all going to have the same review?  What kind of "level" has your mind conjured up where everyone thinks the same way?  If you don't like what one site is doing, start your own.  Oh wait, that's how we got here.  Self-fulfilling prophecy is self-fulfilling.

Guys, GB was HYPED for this game. Saying that they were lazy with this review is idiotic. Illogical even!
 
I like Ryan's review. I personally find the RTS segments to be more of an unnecessary chore. They should've kept with the Third-person combat and guitar magic. That's when the game only expressed its charm.

The RTS elements are the biggest turn off for me. Maybe a rent.

 This is why I love Giant Bomb.  This is a thoughtful, intelligent review that justifies all its points and doesn't treat a score of 3 stars like a stamp of doom, just as a marker of an average game that can certainly be enjoyed by someone more willing to adjust to its mindset.  I'm enjoying the game immensely and I would certainly score it higher myself but I respect Ryan's opinion.

first giantbomb review ive disagreed with... or at least, i feel the stars dont match what hes saying... 4 stars is more like it.

I Really love this game, probably a 5/5 for me. The story is amazing i think, even though it dosent reach the same level as Psychonauts.

All I know right now personally is I'm still having fun with the game.  I don't know how long I've played, but I can understand if the game winds up fairly soon how there might not be enough value to the game to really recommend at full price.

How can Brutal Legend be a 5 star game that isn't a mark on Uncharted 2? Wouldn't anything less than a 5 star game be a 4 or lesser?

I prefer video reviews, they just tell me and show me straight, about a game. Plus it was fucking nice to see the map screen for once, that thing has been hard to find.

 Honestly I think 3/5 is too high, I played through the full main story and the RTS gameplay is... BAD horrible horrible bad.  The rest ranges from awful to bearable.  You are better off watching the cutscenes on youtube and not suffering through the gamefly.

Dood, seriously...the game is already funny enough...but the Giant Bomb video editing magic made this EVEN FUNNIER!!!  LAWL
 
Also...Ryan never said "ZOMFG DIS GAME R TEH SUXOR".  Ryan said "this game is good and all, but it's also trying to be too much at once".  I don't understand where all of the "Ryan hates heavy metal culture" stuff is coming from, especially when he said many many MANY times that this game has tons of badassery to it.  I also don't understand why people think Ryan should rate this differently.  He thought it was a three-star game, and given how much hype they had for this game...as well as their in-depth interview with Tim...I'm sure it wasn't easy for Ryan to click that 3 star button and hit submit without thinking "man, I need to put on a flame shield".

Agree entirely about the RTS gameplay. Its really hindering my enjoyment of the game, which sucks, because I do love so many things about it.

For all those still considering buying this, please be aware that when ryan says 'uneven gameplay' what he really means is, god awful gameplay that you tolerate to get to the next bit of humour.

Similar criticisms to the only other site I go to for game reviews, ars technica.

Despite all the negative talk, I still want to get this game.
