E3 2009 Interview: Left 4 Dead 2

Uh did they make Left 4 Dead so bad for themselves that they cant just  add all of the new things in L4D2. Is it that hard to just patch in the new infected and specials?  they should ask criterion how to do it. Dick move valve

L4D2 sounds like a total pile of bullshit.

All the things he stated New infected, new weapons, new maps have all been done in previous games as DLC how could this not be sold as a 20$ DLC as an expansion pack for L4D i feel like ive been shafted and I doubt ill take that ride again with L4D2 this is the second time valve has consistently let me down... What happened to the TF2 updates goddamit? this is incredibly retarded and I hope this isnt successful at all just to show them what a big mistake their making valve needs to not do shit like this i paid 60$ for a game that has onlty had one significant thing added to it which should have been there in the first place. this is a bunch of crap and I am angry to the both. Im sorry I wont be going for this ride again not until I see some significant changes that would require a whole new game just telling me that Director 2.0 is in it isnt helping cause it looks like the same zombie swarm to me.

Man, Chet's good at his job. I don't know what I heard in those words of his, but I am convinced this game is worth it. Sure it's too early for a sequel, but the content being delivered just screams sequel to me.

I don't see how this game will impress considering the first one came out last year. Eh. I'm not excited about it.

It looks pretty cool with loads of good improvements and I'll end up getting it, but it's still pretty annoying that it's only a year after. I miss all the old characters as well. I hope they'll add in the old maps to save swapping disks and you'll still play the old characters on them.

On a side note, great interview Brad, best I've seen for L4D2 you asked about everything I wanted to know

wait...  we can play L4D1 stuff in L4D2...? i seriously hope not...?  else i'd feel i totally wasted my money on the first game less than a year ago... 

unless they can make sure that only ppl that bought L4D1 can access it... and that they are very sure no one can just port those maps out for free download...

I cannot freakin' wait for more Left 4 Dead. I'd pay for it. I'm more than happy to pay for it. Valve does good work and I want to support it. Hell I wish I could give them money for the TF2 content because I love it so much.

Also that man's beard is kinda odd... It's weirding me out.

WIth the 50+ hours I've spend in L4D, the 100+ hours I got out of the Orange Box (not to mention one of the most inovative games I've played in Portal) and the 1000+ hours I'm sure I spent playing CS and CS Source over the years, I can't really fault Valve for the value they pack into their games.  I feel like we should at least wait and see how much is in L4D2 before we dismiss it as a money grab.

Here Chet is basically admitting L4D was an unfinished product that they're not willing to finish, yet feel comfortable enough to release a sequel to it (only possible due to the support of the first from us fans, which they haven't done very well themselves).

I like the look of it...but the incineration ammo look stupid.

You hear this kind of ranker from the vocal minority it just means the game is popular.  Every popular MP has the same chorus of whiners.

Honestly, LFD was packed with value so ya sign me up for more zombie mayhem.

Not a fan of the magic bullets that engulf zombies instantly in flames.  I know its a game and not realistic, but come on.
