Giant Bombcast 05/27/2014

Similar to my experience, the first and only thing I watched on the site for a while was the P4 Endurance run. I already knew what Jeff looked like but I didn't know what Vinny looked like until I saw the episode 50 behind the scenes video.

@nomin: it's not like they could force vinny to stay, even if they offered like twice his salary. he WANTED to move, and if it's no vinny or vinny in ny id happily take the latter.

When Jeff talked about his idea of splitting the podcast my initial thought was "that sounds horrible". But then he said something about making people listen for 7 hours a week so now I'm all for it!

This is exactly how it was for me too. 99hr and 59min of endurance run later I came to the site and had my mind blown seeing how everyone actually looked.

I might just be lonely at work, but I'd rather listen to the GB team tall about their lives than my own friends some days.

Same here lol, I even missed the one p4 episode that showed them when I was watching.

First of all, I think Transistor is a pretty nice looking game for what it is, but man Brad was singing praises that I just don't understand. I beat the game and it doesn't really do a whole lot with the graphics in the end.. Unless Brad was talking about these one or two instances where things get a bit ..confusing..

I know it's a fairly subjective matter, but I just don't think the game does anything special with the graphics. There is some nice flat art here and there, but it's not earth shattering in any way. If anything I thought the game looks a bit flat in some places.

I must have been distracted and missed that part. Could you elaborate on this? What did Jeff say about it?

@drewbert is gonna have to step up on the Bombcasts! I believe him to be fully capable of this task.

Why'd Jeff have to go and bring up Mercenaries? That deck of cards mechanic was a lot of fun. There was actually an incentive to bring people in alive.

That would make sense. Rooster Teeth did that with their podcast.

Well money-wise the Xbox One bundle is better, but are you going to be happy using an XBO? The downside is that it's currently weaker than the PS4 and games looks slightly worse on it. The upside, I guess, is that Microsoft seems to be very proactive with updating the software on their machine and hey that Kinect is gonna be fun for tooling around when you have friends over.

I haven't really listened since they did that though... maybe it wasn't a good idea? I don't want to listen to just video games for only 30 minutes, or only people bullshitting. I want a stream of bullshit with videogame chat mixed in... Maybe that's strange.

Well both podcasts are around the normal length of 1.5 hours so if anything you're getting twice the video games and twice the bullshit. But I can see what you're saying about wanting them mixed in.

Maybe thats just me, but I think that would be a terrible idea. The whole charm of the bombcast (to me) is the natural flow of the conversation. If they drift of into 30 minutes talking about stuff in the middle of "new games" thats the most awesome part of the podcast usually.

It doesn't 'bother' me, I was simply saying I don't personally really care to listen to them talk about it and ramble on about fixing a door or finding a car or something, as an example, so I skip to them talking about games. I also do listen to other podcasts from IGN, GameSpot, and Game Informer.

I wouldn't simply stop listening to the Bombcast, though I don't always listen to it. I have my own stuff I have to do and can do instead of listening to them talk about that stuff. I come to game sites for the games, not the staffs personal daily lives when it comes to mundane things that aren't apart of my personal life. You both seem to have been offended when there's no point to that...

Bit late to the party but it's such a shame people are disregarding Wolfenstein so quickly. Jeff's statements about the main character's comments are completely taken out of context. It's honestly packed with a ton of attention to detail. Sure the world itself could've been a bit more populated with npcs to make it even more lively but honestly, you can just tell that Wolfenstein was a labour of love by MachineGames.

It treats players with respect and boasts the best writing I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing in a videogame. There's a scene in there which is entirely optional but is so profound that you'd be hard-pressed to ever find that in a videogame. It's funny because for every other WWII shooter we've had in the past, none of them adressed what was said in that little cutscene. Only here we have a game which deals with an alternate timeline which is completely implausable and utterly sells it to the player by making sure every facet of the game is handled with the utmost care.

Please people, buy the game and see for yourself. The characters, voice-acting, animation and narrative are unrivaled in my opinion and might've even surpassed HL2. If anything it's a superb title to tide us over until the release of HL3.

Buy it. Play it. Help me see a sequel to this amazing game. Ok, carry on!
