Reviews: Modern Warfare 2 Video Review

Still on the fence about this one. Most FPS's multiplayer are just too hectic to play. Seems like that may be the case with this one.

5 hour single player?  I'll wait till the game's a Greatest Hits title or buy it used in a couple months.

Couldn't they even try to make a lengthy experience for us who are not into the multiplayer? I mean, a 5 hour singleplayer? Thats shorter than Brütal Legend.

It looks like this is  a good game, if relying a lot on multiplayer.....oh well, I am picking up my copy momentarily anyway.

wait did Jeff say 5 Hours? I am only interested in Single Player Campaign's in games, Multiplayer does nothing for me, so I shan't be picking this one up. Yeah it doesn't help that I don't like FPS games either! Oh well its off to complete Ratchet and Clank ACIT in Challenge Mode and finish up Uncharted 2 trophies.

I'm still not going to play this game.

God and here i was bummed out that i wouldn't be able to get this game on launch day, but after watching and reading the review i realized that I'm not such a big call of duty fan to begin with(godamm hype), i will pick this up later i guess, also a 5 hr single player  is short ?

Shame there was no coverage for the PC counterpart, how do all the changes to the PC work out?

And what the hell is up with all the prone going! I never met that many players on my usual servers back in CoD4, was that a console thing?

I agree with everything jeff said, i can see his point on the SP but i loved the over the top stuff. I played it on Vet tho took me about 9 hrs and i had to repeat some section afew times defo harder on vet than cod4 was.

Thinking about leaving work to make sure I snag a copy.

I hate UAVs...this is all good news for me.  Well, this title's a no-brainer for me considering the amount of play I got from the previous incarnation.

Looks like a pretty cool game.  It's just too bad there's no PC version. NO. The PC version does NOT EXIST!

 Since they didn't mention anything concerning the PC release of the game does that mean we are going to get a separate PC review? Or are they just going to ignore it too?
 
 I want to play this game before even more of it gets spoiled online then it has, but how they are going to treat the PC version is more important to me and i don't want to support them with a purchase if it turns out to be as bad as they have implied it to be. As much as i am looking forward to the single player I'm not about to spend $70 on a game that is designed around its online if it is going to be broken and have no one playing it.

Still not getting it even though i can shoot down UAVs.  It doesnt fix the problem with them locking down the pc version.  If this is thrown in the 10 dollar rack then maybe.  I was a cod fan, but now I'm  Probably going to forget about them just like the need for speed underground series.   L4D2 is the big one for me now I cant Wait!!!!!

Anyone know if this has a Hardcore mode? 
 
Also... I've been waiting for some idea whether there is any advantage to the PC version over the xbox. There's a suspicious lack of mention of the PC in reviews. Only that they weren't allowed to see it. 
Giant Bomb are normally pretty good at giving an indication of which to get. Anyone seen some (rational) analysis on the web??

Still no real interest since I didn't much like CoD4 except the single-player, and a 5 hour SP campaign isn't worth buying, maybe a rental. (basically I exactly agree with @ChrisTaran )
 
I liked the video review though.

Five hours of campaign? That's a little disappointing.

Single-player and multiplayer look like evolutions of COD4's, which is a great thing.
 
Unfortunately, impressions of the PC version are of lag-filled mess; it's quick to matchmake, but when you're just matchmaking for a 6v6 TDM with laggy "bars" (no ping meter)... that's an inexcusable massive downgrade from the freedom of the PC version of COD4, especially when Activision decides to charge $10 extra dollars for it.
 
Can't bring myself to buy this when IW is spitting in the face of its PC fanbase.

Idk, I agree with Jeff's review and will end up buying this game some day in the future. 
 
But I don't like the overall multiplayer design, mainly because I've never enjoyed the idea of giving people advantages who are already winning. So while I enjoy all the additions to the online experience that certainly isn't a key feature for me. 
 
Thats where the single player experience is supposed to come in, the first campaign (like Jeff said) was plausible, it was fun thanks to the gameplay, and had those jaw dropping moments. Hearing that the campaign is only 5 hours hurts, as well as the over the top story-line, I don't want to play a Michael Bay movie.

5 hour single player, no bots to play in multiplayer, I'll pass. If they really wanna improve multiplayer then how about an option for split screen with bots? Call of Duty 4 was ruined for a casual online player by guys who memorize maps, spawn points, and camp snipe positions. I would have bought this if it had bots. But I guess Call of Duty is not known for enemy AI.... Its known for monster closets. And wow a small co-op section... How about like the other Call of Duty games you give us co-op through the game. If the 2nd tier team can do it why can't you guys? I want to get Way of the Samurai 3 more than this.... ill pass!

Shouldn't a Multi-Player first console/PC game cost about $40? Or at the very least, be the premium price of $50? 5 hours of single-player play? Really? That constitutes a full $60 price tag? Am I missing something here? I don't care how re-playable a map pack is, $60 for an FPS is hilarious to me. Sorry, just my opinion. A good full-priced shooter should have a lengthy (say15-20 hours) Single-Player campaign/co-op/and Multi-Player. I refuse to get milked by ActiBlizz on this one. Cheers.
