Quick Look: Anomaly: Warzone Earth

Did anyone else hear this guy?

I like the idea of the aliens preparing for one type of warfare only to get stuck with tower defence. Once you get out of the tutorial/early stages hopefully it goes to something like puzzle fighter to really mess with those damn aliens who never would have prepared for that.

This looks really cool actually! I might pick this up!

Too bad I just bought a bunch of other stuff. I'll wait til they have a big Steam Sale and get it then.

This seems interesting. Getting kind of a C&C vibe from the unit design.

Bought this game on Steam after watching this quick look. I have a soft spot for TD games (and by extension, inverse TD games?)

I don't like tower defense, but this looks good.

It's a pretty fun game tho the final boss is ****ing  impossible!

The game doesn't really take off till Japan. Then it starts pissing you off proper. But the controls are really intuitive once you get used to them.

This definitely looks touch-based.  It looks sort of fun, too.  It's about as puzzlely as I can usually handle.

Oh Vinny, how can you be so spacy? I swear, every camera you've ever held has had that very same power symbol somewhere. If not on a button, then on some part of the screen or viewfinder. And I don't know how many Windows machines you use, but take a look at the buttons that appear after you press "shut down", and then take a look at all your monitors and TVs in the office.

Picked this up on Steam mere minutes after finishing the QuickLook.  It was even on sale.

Watched the Quick Look and thought the game looked like fun, so I bought it. I made it through the Baghdad levels and yeah, it's pretty good! Getting through the first Tokyo mission is probably going to take a few tries, though.

It's a great little diversion, but the last few levels introduce a really bullshit mechanic that makes the last 10% of the game far more difficult than the preceding 90%, which was actually a cakewalk.  It also suffers from some lame checkpointing that can screw you.  It's a nice idea and I hope to see it done in future games, but this one is too short and has a brick wall just before the end that makes it just barely worth the money.

I played through it and finished it this morning. Overall, I loved it, especially for only $9. I still need to try the Tokyo Raid mode, because apparently it randomizes the land and turret placement every time.

I did have a little trouble with the last few levels, but I was never really stuck. There are these regenerator towers that siphon your abilities if you're in their line of sight when you use them, and if it fills up their little bar, they revive any nearby towers you might have destroyed. I was able to take these out with a single airstrike in advanced mode, so that was usually my strategy for those things.
