Yeah no this doesnt look good to me.  I will definitely be passing on this.

Tesla looks pretty pissed.  Be sure to check for the Tesla-Coil-spooling-up noise before you open the office door on Monday.

Ship mechanics definitely looks better in this QL. As for the ground combat, well, let's just say I don't think all the footage in the world can reconcile how I feel about that.

Don't care about the framerate or graphics, this game looks like a lot of fun and I plan on buying it really soon!  Loved Crimson Skies. THRTR for the original Xbox, so this one definately appeals to me.  

Might check this out when it hits the discount bin, but it doesn't look like a $60 purchase. Jeff, if the framerate is fixed in the PC version can we get another short QL? I'd pick it up for sure if it handles better on PC.

My experience so far is that this game is really broken on the PS3. Maybe its just my bad luck with glitches, but I've had a real tough time with it.

I'm really impressed with everything I've seen from this game... I'm glad to see more from it.
This nonsence about a 3 star game makes no sense... 3 stars is a good review and from the looks of it there's nothing else out there like it.

I want Quicklook 3 with the PC version!! PhysX looks awsome with batman AA. Perhaps the PC version would get a 3.5/5??

Having played the PC version, I can tell you all that there are no frame rate issues at all. Heck, it's so smooth I don't think it has even dropped by 1 FPS at any given time. Mind you I have not tested it with PhysX as I don't have an NVIDIA card (CrossFire setup of two HD4870s).
 
As for this QL, wow. I didn't know the frame rate was such an issue on the 360 version. The PS3 didn't behave anything like that when I tested the demo on that first flight level (Ep1 Ch.VI). Now I can see why you mentioned the technical issues in the review.

Colorado Springs reppin it right with Tesla. When I was a kid I went to the Tesla museum in the Springs and got to do the hold-a-flourescent-light-while-it-lights-in-your-hand thing with a 6 foot Tesla coil.

This is getting annoying, we are to many years into this generation of consoles for game makers to be making good looking games with terrible technical asides.... These games cost us $60 guys! Make a game console or PC exclusive if you don't have the time to invest in getting all versions to run correctly.
 
There is NO reason for it to play like crap on the xbox especially since its hands down the easiest to develop for, but this also makes me mad when a game like this comes out and people slam the PS3 for a game playing choppy or crappy. Its NOT the ps3, its the game! 
if the xbox can do it 100% the ps3 can do it. Bayonetta came out and people ripped the ps3 for being inferior, but no it was the PORT that was inferior, a rush job done by Sega; if love and care had been put in to the development of the ps3 version then it would have some aspects even superior to the xbox, yet the shoddy port got ps3 the blame. 
Well look at this game, the PC version runs fine but shoddy tech aspects cripple BOTH consoles. And a game like Darksiders the xbox version had screen tearing that the ps3 didn't. Again i don't think it was an xbox flaw, i think its rush jobs and ports... So these technically flawed games make the consoles look bad, microsoft and sony should be raising some stink over this.....

Air combat stuff looks fun but the ground combat looks meh.

Far and away, the best thing about this game is Nikola Tesla.

I really like the look of that game, and the story seems interesting. it is a shame that it is held back by some technical issues. 

Did the game way better justice than the Demo. On PC it might even be w/o the framerate issues.
 
Nicola Tesla, btw, was a crazy Duder. The Death Ray gun in Wolfenstein was not a crazy game developer idea, but rather made after the concepts that Tesla really made. He invented all kinds of crazy s**t.
 
Many year ago, I read his notes in a technical library in Munich, Germany. In short, I'd say, he was like the daVinci of the electrical Age?
 
Pick up a book and read about him, if you are interested.

Stil will probably give the game a try, one of the previous GB 3-star reviews is still one of my favourite pS3 games, and there is just something about this that appeals to me more than Darksiders or Bayonetta for current releases. 
 
That said, all 3 are probably going on my gamefly list.

Th 360 is the inferior console technically, so why you continue to review games and give them lower scores based on it is a bad idea.  While the 360 is the console more people own, it's not like 2007 where the PS3 was only for rich dudes, and the PS3 is quickly becoming as common as the 360.
 
I have all 4 platforms, and my 360 hasn't been on in months, and the last time I bought a 360 release was the GTA DLC.  The last physical 360 game I bought was Far Cry 2.  My shitty launch console only has so much life left in it, so it only gets used for Rock Band and exclusives.
 
I would like to see a follow up on the other platforms' performance in comparison to the 360.  If it's the game then so be it, but if it's the hardware then maybe you should start worrying less about points and more about a thorough review.  At the end of the QL Jeff says he'd like to look at it on a "machine more powerful than an Xbox", while I'm sure the PC version will be the best if you have the horsepower, it's like he ignores the fact it's also on PS3.  I'm not one to call out bias or defense of a particular platform, it just seems odd that the PS3 gets ignored.  Maybe it's from those early years when almost every PS3 port was crappy, and it earned a bad reputation, but that's been proven it was the developers' fault and not the hardware.
 
I recall when the PS2 was considered the lowest common denominator of the last gen, and so most reviews used it as the benchmark for a multiplatform game, since almost every game was as good as the PS2 version with maybe slight improvements stemming purely from the better hardware.  Is this what is now being done with the 360?

The guy at bestbuy had to open the box that their shipment of Dark Void came in so I could rent it.
 
I played the PS3 version and didn't notice as many framerate drops or as much texture pop-in as I was expecting. The sound had issues though - One time I flew through an exploding dropship and came out with no sound except the radio chatter.
 
And yeah, the ground combat isn't as good as a Gears of War or Uncharted. Still, it's competent enough and being able to hover around dudes (while difficult to keep yourself vertical, dodge, aim, shoot, and stay alive, especially on hardcore) is pretty sweet.
 
Does it have issues? Yeah, but I still remember zipping through rock pillars dodging UFO fire and free-falling through an exploding Watcher tower, then rocketing away. I'll definitely buy this when it gets cheaper.

I guess I'll pick it up when it's selling for $10... two months from now.
