Quick Look: Daytona USA

Love this game.

Daytona. Fun!

Take some time to enjoy this fantastic rendition of the game's title track by the man himself.

Edit: should be noted, as the guys themselves said in the video, this is a port of the arcade version, not the Dreamcast remake.

One of the more memorable games from my childhood, both in the arcade and on the Saturn. Does the cheat exist in this version that makes the horse a selectable 'car'?

So many great memories of playing this with my friends at the local bowling alley! =D

Played this game to death at an arcade in Tenby, Wales.  
 
Been playing the XBLA version and have to say it's pretty damn good.  
 
The black and white face Brad was talking about, is actually the eyes of Formula One driver Damon Hill I believe.

I remember playing Daytona in the arcades when it came out and how AMAZING it looked. And now it looks like a deep-fried dog turd, much like most of the first gen 3D games :(

Damn, I haven't played this game since... I don't even know, but it was definitely before the end of the last century xD

Think Patrick may have been thinking of SCUD Race (apparently known as Sega Super GT in the US). Which I remember looking amazing in the arcades and probably only looks slightly better than this nowadays.

It upsets me at least a little bit they didn't hide the horses from the Saturn version in somewhere, but whatever. The Model 3 racer that wasn't ported to anything might be Sega Super GT, also known as SCUD Race. Now here's the best iteration of Ryu from Street Fighter's theme ever.

Patrick, I believe the other racing games you are looking for are Scud Race and Daytona USA 2 (Not related to the Dreamcast game). Both have never been ported, but they are the games all the Sega fans want ported (Myself included)

The music isn't as good in Daytona USA 2 though, tell ya what.

Hats off to Sega for being so accurate but I really wish they had gone the extra step and included tracks from Championship Circuit Edition or Daytona 2. $10 for three tracks and two cars is kind of a joke. Daytona USA 2000 on the Dreamcast had more than this.

Funny enough most of my memories of this game comes from the Sega Saturn version :P.

I have zero nostalgia for this game, I never saw it in any arcade growing up. But damn if this song isn't amazing.

Just so everyone knows my comment about Patrick wasn't negative. I've just been noticing he's been appearing in more and more quick looks, especially with Ryan his new ER partner.

I'm liking all the Patrick we've been getting in Quick Looks lately.

I actually remember playing the Daytona USA arcade game while IN DAYTONA for Spring Break in the mid-90s. The game was regarded as a super serious racer at the time. People crowded around this monstrocity.

I've spent a good many quarters playing this game!
