Quick Look: Deadpool

I definitely liked the the flavor text (such as the tutorial text and the objectives text) way more than any of the dialogue, but it does seem like a pretty enjoyable game.

It's only $30 bucks on Steam, so it definitely makes it easier to consider buying. Hopefully it gets a discount (even 10%) during the Steam summer sale and I'll buy this.

Yipes. From moment one, it was clear they probably would have rather been doing anything else than play and watch Deadpool.

You know, the idea of a character that knows that he is in a video game could have been great. Could have been. This is not great.

This game seems pretty half-assed.
The gameplay seems stiff and jerky and the writing just seems like a collection of lines which Deadpool might say, with no concern if they are actually funny. It's just generic silly stuff.
Not to mention the way in which the game delivers it's comedy, which is really in your face, all the time.

But I guess that just might be what some consider Deadpool to be, and maybe they're right.

I've seen worst third person actions games. Gameplay wise it's not much different than Wolverine Origins. If you're a fan of the comic book character, you should have fun with it.

All I know is that I'm really digging this game right now. Different strokes for different folks...

It's pretty lame in an action game when you're doing a three-hit combo on an enemy, and the enemy dies at the second hit and your third attack just passes impotently through him. Have devs learned nothing from Ninja Gaiden? Let the guy stagger as he's dying so the combo can finish!

Oopsies. I don't care about fighting games and tend to forget about them almost instantly - my bad. I was imagining more of an action-adventure title, really, like DmC with a second character and a summoned ally.

I really don't like the sound effects in this game.

There are actually some genuinely funny jokes in this game, but it sucks that those jokes are over shadowed by all the other dumb jokes. I know that they probably made the jokes intentionally stupid and self aware, but there were WAY too many of them.

I like Deadpool, and I'll definitely play this at some point.

Why is Jeff such a Debbie Downer on Deadpool? Don't slate his appearance in other games based on this one, Capcom did an excellent job with him in Marvel 3.

I'm not seeing where all the hate is coming from on the controls. I'm playing it on PC and it's completely responsive. I can understand not liking the humor, but mechanically it seems perfectly fine for a beat 'em up.

It looks funny enough to GameFly.

I see a buttload of potential in this one. I don't have any intentions of throwing my money at it, but I don't believe it's nearly as bad as Ryan and Jeff would have you to believe.

The whole aesthetic and general design of this game makes it seem like something that would've come out on the PS2. They really don't make games like this anymore.

I really can't stand action games with stilted, slow, mechanical combat, but this seems like something I could play for really cheap.

Oh, Deadpool. Remember when you used to be cool. I would buy your comics and my dormmates would borrow you because you were so funny. Like that time you met the Great Lakes Avengers and ported back to campy 70's Spider-man time. That was fun. What happened to you?

@radioactivez0r: deadpool is just a polarizing hero. you either love him or hate him. i happen to agree with the gb guys, this game is really hit or miss. i barely made it farther than i did before i quit.

@circlenine: Talk shit on the game all you want, but Nolan North's performance is definitely NOT one of the low points of this game.

I think I'd rather go play Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta again. I've never liked Deadpool as a character and the gameplay looks a bit slow for this style of game.

From watching this quicklook alone, the game seems entertaining for the most part. My gripe with it, however, is with the gameplay being so repetitive! I wish there was more to it rather than hack'n'slash and just spamming bullets.

I do have to admit though that I laughed at most of the jokes or chuckled at least! His one liners seem to be well written.

It's nice seeing a Marvel game over than Wolverine: Origins get a mature rating. Hopefully Marvel will push the boundaries a bit more in the future.

In the end though, this'll probably end up as a rental for me if I can find it on GameFly or RedBox.

I'll play this. I like Deadpool. Hell I played those Spawn videogames.

A "badass mercenary who doesn't give a fuck about anything" sounds even more boring and unoriginal...

Man if you are a starwars fan you should look up the fan made despecialized versions of the movie. Starwars fans took the dvd and bluray copies of the starwars movies and took out all the crap that george lucas put in later. Since they can't sale it they give it away there are places everywhere to download it. Just look for starwars despecialized. Its great quality fan made project, they even used original copies of the movies and movie sales fans and purchased years ago. There is a huge video on youtube showing its productions. Its the clearest and truest version of the star wars movies out. They color corrected the dvd versions and fixed the AA issues and blended it perfectly with the HD parts of the bluray that was uprezzed incorrectly which is a problem they fixed.

Bought it for 5 euros on the PC and it was a pretty fun romp.
