Quick Look: EX: Tank! Tank! Tank!

This is kind of crazy to me at a $50 price point, it seems like something that would be on XBLA/PSN. Also,

No online? The monster battle stuff looks fun for a spell. IDK, it looks like it would be a fun rental. Can't see wanting to play this for more than an hour. The game looks like a Wii game. Doesn't look like anything that couldn't be on a Wii just split screen. This world needs less gimmicky controllers.

Yeah, I think about ten minutes of that is all I could stomach.

This looks like fun so I'll pick it up launch day.

This looks terrible. Like a $10 game XBLM/PSN from 2008.

I'm going to ignore every valid thing there is to say about this game and just go with the "boy oh boy, does this game look like shit or what".

Which, really, is what I think is going to be a keypoint in Wii U Quick Look comments for at least the next 6 months.

No online is a bummer, but I think I will still pick it up anyways. Seems like fun in small chunks.

He knows the full lineup of every game that will be released for it, give him a break. We just need his time travel briefcase so we too can see how it's so shitty.

In seriousness, as someone who absolutely regretted his Wii purchase, and bought maybe 7 or 8 games for it over its life, I think the Wii U could be really interesting, and the launch window already has 4 or 5 really solid looking games. It does have a controller that seems functional now.

This is the sort of rock stupid game that I want to like. Priced approrpiately, it could have had a decent life as a digital title. That is not going to happen.

Truly this is the next gen.. Truly.

Who wants to play games where one player has a private full screen all to themselves while the rest get to share these skinny vertical views that anyone can spy on?

If multi-player death match can't give everyone the same advantage, it's really a pointless and fake attempt at competition.

I fucking loved the arcade game. The way the big chairs shot backwards was amazing to me

Amazing how the next generation looks like an ugly PS2 game.

Not a strong first showing for Wii U Quick Looks. I hope that screen can be made into something more than a gimmick.

I assume it's due to some trade embargo restrictions as mentioned in the WiiU unboxing video. I believe brad said they can only show 10 minutes of games or something along those lines.

The gameplay doesn't look that bad but goddamn those are some ugly ass graphics... I mean, they're pretty much wii level, I don't know much about this game but I'd wager that it did probably start and gone through most of it's development as a wii game, then they quickly ported it to the wii u, that's the only possible explanation, or the wii u really sucks major balls.

This is a launch ass launch game. On another platform I imagine asking 15 dollars for this would be a stretch. Is this a retail product? My guess is probably.

The guidelines exist - the EX comes from a developer coming on to join the crew. There have never been any guidelines regarding length. In fact, the QL front page still says something in regards to "20 minute" videos, which hasn't been true for years.

@Wraithken: A Quick Look Ex is just what they call developer walkthroughs. Basically anytime someone other than them is showing off a game for them. Nothing to do with how long it is.

It's not a great looking game but the battles look entirely fine. What gets me though is that while I'm not a big online player I do have to side with Brad's comment. I can see this being fun with friends. But you don't have those always around and this game looks pretty boring without at least some real human to compete with in the long run. An odd choice to make for sure.

Also regarding the movement. It's clear that they chose to go Wii-mote without nunchuk and thus you have very basic controls. Nice for basic simplicity but pretty limited.

The problem with arcade ports. Sure that looks fun for an evening, but it seems to lack the depth to be played for the long term.
