Yep, the game is pretty good. I don't think the fun lasts very long though. It grew repetitive for me pretty quickly.

This is one super-cool game. Roguelikes really seem to be the flavour of the month right now - with Binding of Isaac, Spelunky HD, and now this - and I'm loving them. Having a whole bunch of fun playing through this - like the others, it's tough at first but still enjoyable, and very satisfying once you get the base mechanics down.

I think FTL is great. It probably doesn't have much of a tail, but having played it for about 7 hours I am still having a blast.

I have been playing this constantly since I heard about it on twitter. I'm having varying degrees of success with both the Engi and Human ships - one tip for might be to use autofire sparingly - focus one weapon to keep the enemy shields down and the other to take out a second important system (I tend to go for weapons unless they are trying to activate their FTL drive) and this leaves you free to focus on repelling invaders and fixing your own ship.

I have messed about with drones but the only really successful run was when I bought a Drone Retrieval Arm which scoops up any drones you used at the end of each battle - essentially removing the need to buy new drones. I also found a drone which would repair my hull, which was nice, though more expensive long-term than getting it fixed in a shop. Personally I prefer having the control over where my weapons are firing, so I tend to stick with the human ship.

Very interested. I have bought too many games this week to justify it, though.

This game is pretty awesome, but basically none of the games people keep calling roguelikes have anything to do with them other than random elements and permadeath.

If you havent tried it yet, Dungeons of Dredmor is absolutely fantastic.

FTL is an amazing game. I've been loving every minute of it. I'm terrible at it. I've only got as far as Sector 7 on easy mode. But it's awesome.

I like it, it's enjoyable, but I just don't see the reason behind all the gushing over it. I would put it into the 'enjoyable time-waster' category, i.e. an iOS game.

Still, the music alone is worth the price of the game. It's pretty great.

Very cool FTL got the QL treatment. I've been playing this at every opportunity that presented itself since I pulled the trigger on it and I'm still really enjoying myself. Already well worth its rather humble asking price I think. The glorious last stand you had here is so representative of the game and I think that's fucking awesome. These horrible situations really give me these intense rougue-like-esque moments where you stare at the screen in disbelief trying to find the genius idea to deal with a problem. True consequence to the player actions. By no means revolutionary at all but a great and unique game either way!

Wat? What on earth is the reasoning for calling it that...? It's top down view and hard? Random encounters?

Seriously, this is even less of a roguelike than Spelunky, and Spelunky is not a roguelike. It's completely absurd how the term is being thrown around these days, especially when the genre's bigest influence on modern gaming - Diablo - is largely ignored.

Oh, and I don't know if anyone's said this yet but:

Brad, put your third guy on Shields, not Engines when you start. Shields are WAY more important to have powered and running then the 10-15% dodge chance you get from engines. Heading into an asteroid field with no shields is what screwed you over.

Brad: "People keep calling this a Roguelike. I don't have much experience with that, beyond something like Spelunky..."

Uh, Spelunky isn't a Roguelike. It doesn't even describe itself as a Roguelike. Where do you guys get this shit? This isn't one, either.
