3:30 in, and I see what you guys are talking about. STOP PULLING UP THE PHONE. IT TURNS OFF FOR A REASON.

Seriously. You see where the enemies are, you see the checkpoint. Not like there's a huge confusion on which direction to go anyways. And maybe it gets blurry to try to tell you you SHOULDN'T be using the phone all the time?

4:30 and I'm done. There was a clear prompt to TAKE COVER during that first stun gun fight, but apparently actually playing the game the way it's supposed to be played isn't the point of this quick look.

You should be quick to learn that most quick looks are like this.

Although I will say that Jeff seemed to forget the cover part in a cover based third person shooter.

How do you not push A?

You can also get it on steam as well in case anyone was interested. If anything it might look really pretty. Even though all their faces looked like they were ripped out of Indigo Prophecy.

To everyone complaining shut the fuck up. Jeff's playing of the game has no impact on you. This was brought up in the bombcast and Ryan had some advice for all of you "Fuck off"

I actually like the cell phone use. It's possible to track real-time via satellite, so why not just hook it up to a cell phone to make it all semi-sci-fi and secret-agenty. Using it all the time like Jeff says/does, though, is just lazy.

Same thing with Batman: AA for the general gamer populace. Instead of constantly using detective mode, which some people complained they had to do, I found it more entertaining to track using my eyes once I had an idea of where they were. It made the game more challenging and tense. It also made the game longer, which is a plus :)

EDIT: Also, I kinda want to rent this game. Playing through a proper, original Bond story in video game form seems like something worth checking out, though maybe not outright purchasing.

no, his way of playing games is to take advantage of the tools that are given to him, and if the devs give you the ability to auto-lock onto targets, melee kill while being shot at, and see enemies through walls, then why shouldn't you take advantage of that?
Also he said he can't just jump around through game chapters to show other stuff because it would set his current progress back.

Why does Jeff keep using the cell phone mode? It degrades the experience and it's clearly not needed (contrary to Batman).

I know its used to gain info and shit but hey, it gives you warnings when there's info to scan right? And only use it when you're stuck or when you took out goons for their weapons.  Bloody irritating. "
The problem with games that have 'detective modes' like these is that you have to choose one or the other: better gameplay, or better atmosphere.   There's nothing wrong with a player deciding on better gameplay (which involves playing with the cellphone out constantly for all the features), but there's certainly something wrong with the game design for asking you to sacrifice one or the other main points of playing a videogame. "
I completely disagree.   Where does it say you have to choose ONE?   It's a freaking toggle for a reason, you are meant to switch between them. "
I agree with Will, you have to switch between them, but I just felt like Jeff's taking two steps and then toggling it. It's like players who use questing mods in MMO's, you could actually try and play the game instead of looking up the answers/following the trail.

It's helpful and a fun addition, but it will notify you if intel is nearby and if you're stuck its there for you.
I just didn't see why he had to turn it on and off every 2 seconds.
Not fun for the eyes.

I bet Jeff was deliberately using the cellphone mode excessively. He seems like the type of guy that would take something like that and annoy someone with it just to make some ambiguous point. He's interesting to read.

Yes, cops do need to be shot with a stun gun befoer they can use one
Yes, they do hurt
Yes, the barbs do make you bleed
Yes, it hurts...

And you feel really energized afterwards.... I know via experience.

I think the fact that Jeff spammed that cellphone thing really killed this. Arkham Asylum was open world so the detective vision thing was useful when it was always on, you really don't need the cellphone on a linear ass linear game.

I agree but then again don't treat your follow bomber and fans like shit just because you have a gaming site. I understand people overly conplaining but i think most of the points the commenters raise were fair because it does not seem as vital as it was in batman.

I don't think it is needed to be rude or a jerk about it one way or the other and as for people's point i agree but only in the context of disagree with jeff opinion of the option. We are still at the mercy of whoever is playing and they can do what they want when doing a quicklook because they can just not do one which i don't want to see happen. I just don't want them trashing games unfairly which is the only problem in my mind that happens once in a blue moon.

Yeah, not to be an apologist for the game, because it clearly has issues, but I really don't think using the Cell Phone that much was at all necessary.

Oh, and I kinda liked that Borne game, as a fun, sort of dumb romp (although the melee combat was more involved), at least until I got to the barn that was on fire and couldn't get past it. This seems pretty similar, so I'll probably rent it, since nothing else of interest is launching this week.

Is it just me, or would it be way, way more fitting to get an Assasins Creed-style James Bond game? From the movies, the whole point seems to be walking into a civilian situation and craftily getting shit done without raising a fuss, not just shooting your way through guards.

I'm renting this game, it's actually a lot of fun.  Definitely not as good as Everything or Nothing but a completely  competent third person shooter.  I'm excited to see where else the franchise can go.

Then what exactly do they call cell phones in your future moon world, friend? I haven't heard anyone call one by another name since they were known as "portable phones".

EDIT: Also, I'm gonna back up everyone else's opinion on the in-game cell, but the thing that stood out to me more is that Jeff and Vinny seemed legitimately baffled by the idea of a James Bond game not based on a movie, when there have been four or five of them. I mean, I'm pretty sure Nightfire was the first one, and that came out eight years ago this month.

If you like The Bourne Conspiracy and Splinter Cell Conviction you'll probably like this. But the problem is, having liked and played both of those, I feel like I've played this game already.

Bizarre deserve kudos for the apathetic smartphone Bond though at least. Whether intentional or not, that's quite funny.

How about they give you that info without it being a toggle that goes away, and without a fat filter over everything that makes it look like garbage.
