Do they still do those? I listened to the first set, which was really my first real encounter with DnD, and thought it was pretty fun, but haven't seen anything else.

It's a turn-based strategy card game where you cast magical spells and attack your opponent with creatures.

The new set they are shooting in looks great. Lighting is fantastic, and it feels way more laid-back than the full-on green screen.

Seeing this game in action reaffirms my decision of never getting into Magic.

It's fun watching a Brad pull a Brad.

My friend's younger brother has been into Magic for years. I like staying completely ignorant of the subject because whenever they talk about swords that make wolves or some shit it sounds like the coolest thing on the planet and there's no way the cards can live up to what my mind has made them.

The Ipad version of this is pretty great if you're into this kind of thing.

I'm 35, never played Magic. But I'll try now.

I could never figure out how to play Magic. Yugioh is a breeze by comparison. I would say no to trading card based video games but to Matt Rorie I say "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!"

This QL prominently displays what my issue with Magic, and I guess card games in general, is. Every time I played Magic, one of two things would happen: either I'd draw land every turn and never get a creature, or I'd only draw creatures and never have land to use them. Now, I never owned any cards and only played with decks put together by a friend, so maybe he was building them like ass on purpose to fuck with me, but it turned me off to the idea of these kinds of games completely.

Brad Muir is always so happy. I have a man crush on that man.

This will probably be a really stupid and annoying post. But Ryand needs to start losing weight. I like him a lot. This post was longer but I got annoyed.

They play really nooby. You don't play permanents before combat phase because the enemy can more easily judge if you have instants or other surprises and block accordingly. That 8/8 is pretty powerful though.

Yes. Ryan made an extremely accurate comment. At least it is true for me. I got into Magic for like 6 months in middle school. Afterwards, I stopped due to having to buy new cards all the time. Got back into it when the XBLA game came out (it was so much like the CD-ROM game that came with my starter deck in the nineties)

Agreed man he is an epic fella but i worry for guys that size after 30years of life. I have 2 friends in similar shape one is now diabetic and a bit of a mess the other has a heart condition that docs say mean he may not make 40. Real sad.

Duels is the only time I play Magic and I can confirm that if you think luck is why you're losing it's actually you who is doing it wrong. If you're on turn 4 with only two lands out and keep playing or keep a crap opening hand and keep playing that's your own fault. The only mode where bad luck can truly screw you is in Planechase.

@MrMooEar: I've had games go that way. Is this a good substitute for those of us who used to play Magic and somewhat miss it, but cringe when they see the people that play Magic? I'd like to play Magic without the visuals and smells of my opponents.
