I'd love an HD Okami game, or even an iPad version.

I really really don't see the appeal here. Even the art is annoying - not so much the characters as the world itself.

I shouldn't watched this. Now I have to go play Okami on my PS2. Also, I wish Capcom release a HD version of Okami for PS3 with Move support.

and me! Glacial pacing, effusive hand holding, dull conversations... everything's exactly the same in Okamiden, in fact it looks like the same game only with worse graphics and a smaller Amaterasu and a different smart alecky sidekick.

edit: oh and a lot of needless, crappy filler, that turns me off just about anything.

Doesn't look nearly as charming as Okami, but I'd still probably give it a shot if I had a DS.

People who still haven't played the first game really should. It's definitely the best of its kind, and I imagine it's very cheap nowadays.

I think that both this and Okami are kind of ugly and unfun to play. Have someone who understands compelling game design and how to write dialogue make a hi-res Okami on the 360 or PS3 and I'm back on board.

I like the look on this game. I've played the demo on my DS and I liked it. Will probably pick it up when I have the time.

"Who doesn't like Ōkami...?"

The same idiots who didn't like Majora's Mask.

As someone who harbors a deep love of Ōkami, I won't be checking this one out. Not because of the QL but because I'm apprehensive of any sequel of the first game and what I've seen of the Wii version and Ōkamiden seems to validate that suspicion. I totally understand why they brought it to the Wii and DS: the game's unique mechanic makes it ideal for those platforms but the actual execution looks weak and I don't understand why the action descends to the lower screen when using the Celestial Brush, then scrolls back upwards; it made me seasick. I don't want to taint my memories with an inferior money grab, especially as Ōkami was Clover's last game before Capcom closed them down; it seems fitting that it should end on such a high note.

Once again I have to question the value of you opinions: you present a small part of the game without even bothering to read the information it gives you then complain when you don't know what to do... I'm reminded of the Perfect Dark re-release for download on the X-Box 360 QL: you played a match in the combat simulator without talking the time to figure out all the cool stuff you can do in there nor taking advantage of certain weapons. Perhaps the Quick Looks should show the game a little further then the beginning so the reviewer has time to master the game more and let viewers see more of what the game has to offer then just the tutorial or the first half-hour when nothing happens and the character isn't leveled up. Maybe if the QLs consisted of three five minute segments of the game at different stages? You seem to dislike getting from point A to B by traveling the distance between them. Well, in the first Ōkami you eventually find two ways of warping to anywhere in the world but these methods are acquired later on in the game and only to places already traveled; its to avoid long backtracking. This means that you actually have to go new places by moving the character there, in other worlds, actually playing the game instead of turning it on, reading the credits then turning it off.

Dude, you're turning into Ryan Navarro. Trust me, I know turning thirty sucks, but buck up pawrdner.

I'd play this in HD. Make it happen, Capcom. And throw in Okami HD Remix for good measure, it's one of the best PS2 games ever.

This doesn't look like much of a game.  They just kind of shoe horn a drawing mechanic in... so to get across that bridge, it stops everything so you can draw a line... or to attack enemies it stops so you can draw a line on them, and then the screens swap back and forth each time you do that which is really disorienting.  Maybe it's made for 5 year olds or something.

While Okami is probably my favorite game of all time, I don't really want to play this. I don't really want to play the sequel to Okami on DS...doesn't do the graphics, atmosphere and other stuff justice. I have the same exact problem with The Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass.

The camera angle is too high up.  You can't see far enough in front of you.

Watching this was... frustrating.  It seems like Ryan gets annoyed the moment the game stops holding his hand and telling him exactly what to do.  Yeah, some of the complaints are legitimate, like the stuff about the controls, camera and spammy combat, but some of the things he kept whining about, like the "long-winded" three-sentence dialogues, or the lack of arrows pointing him in the exact direction of everything...

I mean, come on, fine, you don't like to read, that's great, but UGH THIS IS SO BORING I CAN'T JUST WALK N A STRAIGHT LINE ALL THE TIME doesn't strike me as fair to the game.  I wonder what would happen if Ryan played Commandos, or X-COM, or Panzer General or something... eesh.

Also, for the record, I don't love the first Okami.  It is a beautiful, funny, charming and even touching game, but it's also pretty slow in some respects and the constant use of the celestial brush made doing relatively basic tasks rather annoying at times.  As far as Zelda clones go, it's one of the best ever made.  Even so, I think this quick luck is sloppily researched and doesn't really represent the game accurately.  As much as I respect the editors' opinions here for most things, I can't take this sort of content seriously.

Unfortunately, this is how most reviewers view games.

It's not the audience demanding their games be dummied down, but the reviewers.

I'm not sure why Rorie wasn't in this quick look. I mean puppies. Seriously. He might as well write the review and post tumblr stuff while he's playing.

" Kind of annoying that every other quick look seems to misrepresent the game they're trying to show. I understand the concept behind quick looks, and I know I should not expect them to give me the full picture, but at least get the basic stuff right.  If you know you're going to do a quick look of a game, then pay attention during the intro cinematic ! That way you won't be saying the game takes place 9 months after Okami when it's 100 years !  I'm nitpicking, it's not that big a deal. The important thing is to see the game in action. I'm just saying there's room for improvement. :) "
I'm pretty sure it was the original Okami that took place 100 years later. Okamiden is 9 months after Okami, that's why the same characters are there.

And Kuni is the adopted son of Susano and Kushi. They did not give birth to him.
