Quick Look: Resistance 3

Had kind of wrote this one off after the negativity around the mulitplayer Beta, but I liked the first game and this will probably be added to the long list of games this year that I need to get...

Lighting is good. But I really can't get past console jaggies and low res textures, please bring on the next generation.

Why did the E3 demo for this look so terrible? This and that look like completely different games.

@boondocksaint2k: Yeah especially if you want FPS action you can get that in Deus Ex:HR.Not saying anything about Resistance 3 but I think Deus Ex offers more content/money wise,variety,and overall entertainment.Then just another straight FPS.

Resistance 2 was my first ps3 game and that game almost made me regret my purchase, good to see resistance 3 is not a ****** game, but i totally lost interest in that saga despite the fact that the PSP resistance game is totally awesome

@AngelN7: I only play on PC because of the reasons stated in my post. There needs to be a next gen goddamn now because everything leads on console, which limits PC more then anything.

Hmm...this is the 3rd GB video I've seen in the past 2 weeks where the audio is out of sync. is just me, or is anyone else seeing it as well?

i got resistance 1 with the PS3 was the only reason i bought a ps3 .... im now watching a few casts on resistance 3 on twitch.tv and so far it looks great and will probably get it

I played the multiplayer beta and it was fun, don't know if I can jump in to this game though since I 've never played the first two.

The animation looks very jerky

Funny, I remember them saying Resistance 3 looked like crap at E3.

i really liked the first game but i never got R2 because it looked so bad.

The second game was in need of polish, but it's reputation is far worse than the game was. The game was a good game that could have been great with more time spent.

Was never a big fan of Resistance  so I might rent this or wait for it to drop in price like I did for Uncharted 2.

Patrick was my favourite member of the G4 team and the only reason I visited that site regularly. He`s fast becoming my favourite member of the GB crew. It`s good to have someone dropping mad knowledge about the game series and mechanics for those of us uninitiated in the Resistance-verse. This is why I hate it when the GB crew go in cold to Quicklooks. Can miss out on so much if done like that.

I hated R2 but this looks pretty decent. Pleasant surprise.

Excited.

@dcgc: I would say everyone who plays un-inverted is an asshole, including myself.  The logic behind inverted controls is spot on.

I think the problem comes when you hear them spend so much time degrading 2, almost entirely for the purpose of emphasising how much better 3 is... but then they both were given 4 stars by GB. Confusing...

Well, you have to consider the fact that the two games were reviewed by two different people. These reviews are not group efforts. Maybe Patrick would've given Resistance 2 a lower score, had he been the one reviewing it and had he been at Giant Bomb three years ago.

After being so disappointed by R2, I'm glad this is looking so much better.

Resistance 2 was pretty shit, the only thing it had going for it was the online co-op modes.

I think the Giant Bomb review only scored it so high because of its multiplayer features, the campaign was pretty awful.

It was Ryan who said it was shit no? Not the opinion of Vinny who actually reviewed it.

The Tunguska Event happened in 1908. And it's the primary point of divergence for the Resistance universe.
 
This game feels like the second half of The War of the Worlds. The downtrodden hopelessness is quite strong. In fact, that scene infront of the church looks like the bit from Spielberg's War of the Worlds.

Damn, this looks really sharp. Gorgeous even. I remember watching some gameplay videos a couple of months ago and it looked really bad in those. Nice to see that the final product turned out great.

12 minutes into a 20 odd minute QL before they even shoot at something, instead Patrick's gushing about the lighting effects.

If Patrick wants to write news, fine, but for the love of all that is pure and holy keep him away from quick looks and reviews.

Yea i kinda agree. How is the shooting? Yea the game looks good, but how does it play? I'm not gonna bother finishing this one.
