Oh wow, didn't realize this was such a Castlevania tribute. Looks like a lot of fun, and pretty charming too! Could see myself spending a good amount of time with this game.

Geez. Even rogue'lite' is pushing it. All it has going for it is randomized levels - still, I appreciate the courtesy to make such a distinction. Too often 'roguelike' gets tossed around in the media by people without a shred of familiarity with the genre.

Rogue Legacy is a great example of how a demo can help a game. I saw the trailer for RL but I wasn't sure about it. A week later they released the demo and I was ready to pre-order after playing it for hours.

Rouge-lite is a good way to describe it because it does have random dungeons and you have to restart each time, but when I was playing it felt much more like a Castlevania game than a rogue game.

This game pretty much has everything I like.

The pre-order discount has been extended to Sun. night and it should be on steam next week. I ran across it a few weeks ago and the demo is good but the full version has lots more to offer that was not in the demo. New traits and layouts 300+ unique layouts I'll be sinking many hours into this game. Nearly broke double digits on the demo alone.

Awww, seems like they nerfed the Mage something fierce. Before, they had a Siphon of 10, meaning 10 MP for every enemy you kill.

Frankly, he was rather overpowered, especially with additional Siphon runes, but it was fun to just kill everything and STILL gain MP.

You mean "you are a fan of the man"? Because that's literally just the definition of gay in silly rhyme form. No stereotyping, no judgment, no nothing. The developers have said they put the trait in there because they thought it was important. It doesn't actually do anything.

@spunkyhepanda: I'll be honest, I'm not really bothered by that, either, but the problem is that by putting in the "Gay" trait, they're saying that everyone whose sexual orientation is not mentioned is heterosexual. Furthermore, they said that if they didn't put in the "Gay" trait, it would mean that gay people couldn't be heroes.

It seems as if they're saying that a character whose sexual orientation isn't mentioned is automatically heterosexual, thus propagating a hetero-normative world view which is rather problematic.

I like the look of this game. And these are the same guys that made Don't Shit Your Pants, apparently, which makes it all the better.

I think the premise is clever. The quest to 'Avenge your father' implies that either you've been playing this game for a while or that all your characters share family trait.

You're right, there are some definite problems with how it's represented in the game (and some of the messaging they've used outside the game.) Still, I'd hate to see them get dragged through the mud for this because I know their heart was in the right place. I hope there can be a civil discussion about it.
