I feel like Brad was trying too hard to not like this game. Especially once he admitted that he doesn't even play SC games.

Sort of excited for this one, didnt like 4 much so wonder if they have improved it or not.

Edit: Kind of disapointed of by the story mode, but other then that it seems fine. Il get it when its cheaper.

Taking off my pants before watching this.

I've always been a huge fan of Soul Calibur, but I think I'mma just play SC4 while I wait for a price drop here. Tekken 6 took, like, two months to hit the bargain bin.

Looks alright, but not setting my world on fire. I'll pick it up when it drops in price.

Curious to see if the series gets any better this time around. Haven't played much since 2.

@Brad Taki is not playable in Soul Calibur V. Her student, Natsu, is in this game.

I played the heck out of SC4 for a while but it got old. Not sure whether to pick this up or not but I do love Ezio, that might just force my hand.

No Sophtia? :( I guess her daughter is in there but she was my favourite character. If Ivy can still kick ass why can't Sophitia?

Ever since they introduced that whole character creation stuff and populated the various game modes with generic opponents, the series lost it's appeal for me. Loved SC2 but I was only lukewarm on SC3 and 4.

They should instead focus on a decent story mode and the actual characters, you know, make a MK9-type game.

First five minutes of this is just going through all the Soulcalibur jokes. Nicely done.

The character creation alone, not being jacked, makes this a must buy for me. Soulcalibur IV was insulting with that stuff.

The soul still burns for me. IV was a disappointment but i've always loved the series, it is the only fighting series next to MK that I like. Shame about the story mode but whatever, don't care. Everything else looks like a good package and Ezio is a major plus. The only guest character i have ever liked.

You can mash to victory in both games, so to be fair picking one of the other means nothing.

Seriously, though. I haven't played SC since, like, 3- which ever one had zelda on GC, Spawn on XBOX and Dude from Tekken (that I've suddenly forgotten the name of and someone is going to get mad at me for) on Playstation 2. 
Haven't really felt like playing SC since that one, but I've played that one to death. I think I just got a lifetimes worth of Soul Calibur at this point and I just don't want to play it anymore because I never feel compelled to get it anymore.  
I got damn good at it at one point too, so I guess I just got all meh on it. Same happened for me with Tekken.

slightly dissapointed with the single player side of this game, but the online looks to be super good, hmmmmm... i think its probably worth it, ill see how rich im feeling on friday with FFxiii2 out aswell

I don't know if Jeff or Brad know who Justin Wong is but he was in that lobby they joined, Floe too; some of the best fighting game players in the US in Street Fighter and Marvel. I've been watching them stream SCV over the last couple of days.

I mostly know Justin Wong as the dude who keeps being the opponent in Daigo's victory videos. Always the bridesmaid...

So I don't see the point of getting rid of established characters if you're going to make all of the fighting styles exactly the same. Why? Sophitia's son is so much like her that it's just weird.

Yes, i am pretty sure that was indeed Floe. He's been streaming SC5 pretty regularly up to the release of the game.

Yeah it was Floe, but he was messing around on Ivy, usually he plays Natsu.

Was quite a surprise seeing Giantboming joining the room on the livestream.

The story mode looks lame. It sucks that there aren't stories for multiple characters and it seems lazy that there is just dialogue and some drawings. I guess the trend was set by the short and unfulfilling Story mode for IV but I was hoping they'd bring back the more in-depth Story modes of Soul Blade and Calibur II now that there's a time-skip.

Oh well, looks like I'll be getting Catherine next week instead.

Yeah that was Floe, and the EG Wazzler is Justin Wong.

I don't care about Soulcalibur, but I have to say, the fights are enjoyably flashy and fun to watch casually.

Should I buy this or Soulcalibur 4? D: I recently played 2 after busting out my old Gamecube and had a surprising amount of fun learning some combos.
