You're totally right about that. Darksiders may have copied the formula, but I enjoyed it more than pretty much any 3D Zelda and would put it on par with Ocarina.

This is a weird sentiment. I thought there were a couple things in Darksiders that I'd like to see implemented in Zelda but mostly it was an adequate, but not great Zelda clone. I probably would've given it three stars. I think nobody does it quite like Nintendo, even when I didn't like Twilight Princess. I've beaten every Zelda game and I don't think Darksiders is better than any of them.

Also, yeah, Arkham Asylum is not Zelda-like at all. Neither is City. Metroid-esque, sure.

Looks fun, too bad its on the Wii though. I would never play a 30+ hours motion game.

Yeah, 480p stretched to the big "embigen" screen looks really, really bad.

Also, he probably meant 1080p. All videos on GB are max 720p.

Looks fun but I don't have a motion plus and I don't think I'll be getting one just for this game. Maybe in a year or so when they are both cheap and I'm desperate for something to play.

My gaming world for the past month has been Dark Souls. Seeing a game like this is so strange now. I'm amazed that you can pause the game.

NO NO NO! Why do reviewers keep making that mistake...?! It hurts my brain. The only time Skyward Sword uses the sensor bar is on the start up calibration... after that you can play totally fine with an unplugged sensor bar.

I read in the review that I wouldn't notice this game isn't in HD. I noticed. I noticed it a lot.

is the quality of the videos lowered? the youtube videos are just 360p, have they always been that? And yes im a premium member.

I've barely heard much of a peep about this game, amidst all the others that have come out in the last month or so. I picked it up yesteday because - well, shit - it's a Zelda and I apparently still have a Wii, which sees less playtime than my PS2 at this rate. It's fun, but I'm really surprised at the overall lack of hype for a new Zelda game, and I think it's mostly because of the loads of other AAA titles that have been released in such a rapid order this month.

Nintendo could not have picked a worse time or a worse year to release this, all on a system's that's as good as dead.

You can tell Patrick isn't having a problem with the controls. I guess the people that do have problems can't use a Wii Remote properly. I can't wait to play this game when I get it over Christmas.

I realize it's probably been a while for most people to look at a Wii game, but we get it, it doesn't have the sharpest graphics. When I actually play the game though, the non-HDness of it is the last thing I'm thinking about because the game is a lot of fun. If you guys are really that hung up on looks, go play something else.

I guess I'll watch this quick look about a series franchise that I don't really care about, since it's Giantbomb.

Yes the youtube videos are 360p and are lower quality than the ones streamed from Giantbomb. Switch to the progressive/streaming player for better quality.

Easily the best looking game I've played this year. I have absolutely no idea what people are talking about when they complain about this game's visuals.

Skyward Sword is one of the best looking games of this year purely by colour scheme and design, but man is it a jaggy mutha..

I played this game for 3 hours on Sunday and can vouch that it is pretty awesome. Visuals: Great! Controls: Great! Story: Great! I can't wait until Thanksgiving weekend so I can dive in a lot more. :)

Gonna wait for an HD version.

Cool, it looks good. Also great quick look Pat and Jeff, it was very informative. I have to say if I had a Wii I'd definitely look into playing this game.

The way they've innovated on it seems great, but I don't think time travel or the broader idea of traveling between two worlds that interact with each other is all that novel to Zelda to the extent Patrick seems amazed by it. The Zelda series was one of the first to do something like that in Link to the Past with the Light and Dark Worlds, time travel was one of the primary elements of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, and pretty much every Zelda game since has had some element of travelling between different but connected worlds.

And generally Patrick's point that this has a ton of cool ideas but they're stuck in a Zelda game just doesn't make sense to me. Everything I've seen has been the pinnacle of Zelda-ness, not interesting ideas that would work better in another new type of game.

... Yep, confirmed. I still don't want to play another Zelda game.

My Wii broke but I am looking forward to playing this on Dolphin.

Yeah, that was my first reaction too... until I remembered that this is a Wii game.

The resolution on this video is garbage.

They should of done picture in picture (using the Tricaster) to illustrate Patrick's motions. Missed opportunity there, GB.

@Theresonlyone: Is dolphin able to play Wii games smooth with a high end PC? I remember using it like 4 years ago and it was crap for running many gamecube & wii games. I'd love to play skyward sword but don't want to pony out $180 just for one game, as I don't own a wii. Also people, relax, my friend will let me borrow his copy.

I find quick looks of game they beaten already and then came talk and explain about every aspect of the game not very interesting. 

@MrKlorox: I've beaten every Metroid game and every Zelda game and I can't say I get where you're coming from. The only similarities between Metroid and Zelda are superficial at best - i.e. you explore, and there's a map. Sometimes there's even bosses! There's SORT of the similarity of gaining items that give you better access to stuff, but even then it's just like old Zelda games in that sense.

So did Nintendo rip off Skies of Arcadia or what?
