I love how anything related to The Simpsons nowadays comes down to how crappy modern episodes of The SImpsons is :D

Also Brad should realise that about 9/10 of these random characters were just made up by Konami. I think this game was produced after season 1 or 2. There really wasn't much to go on to make a game back then.

While I do remember playing this all the time when I was younger, I am not sure if I want drop $10 on it now.

To be fair the last Simpsons game was the funniest the Simpsons have been in a long time. That said, it was a lot of inside video game industry jokes. Unfortunately the controls and camera were so bad it's as if they were going for Guinness world record.

Picked up Simpsons Hit and Run for the PS2 last weekend for $3 at Gamestop. Another awesome Simpsons game.

Just to put the age of this game into some perspective: According to Wikipedia, 'The Simpsons' game hit arcades before the second season of the show was even over (March 1991 vs. May 1991).

While it is $10/800 MS Points, it will be free for PlayStation Plus users beginning next week.

Oh gosh...these sounds...reminds me of the classic fun center roller rink we used to go to for EVERY birthday party/elementary school party thing when I was young...

I'm not really nostalgic for the game, though. I always thought this game got way boring after like four quarters.

I would buy this, but my local arcade actually has a Simpsons cabinet, so this would make that feel a lot less special.

This was a fun game back then, but now after playing it it's clearly a quarter munching kind of crappy game.

You had me at "Backbone Entertainment".  Ugggggggh yeah they have done their share of emulation work, they have also done is terrifyingly bad., word up PS3 users..

Vinny's wrong about The Simpsons Game. I thought it would be good, but a few levels in the terrible controls and camera sucked all of the fun out of it.

I fucking love this game.

God, the nostalgia! Those spinning teacups were so goddamn annoying. It was great when random people would come up to you to go the full 4-player route. The good old days...

Hearing the themes being sung and played brought a smile to my face. WELL PLAYED BRAD AND VINNY

What the hell Brad? Mr. Sparkle came out during the show's prime (long before the movie came out) and it was a great episode.

WAIT people had trouble getting to the zombies. first time i played this i got to the zombies on my first 4 lives. this was alone playing as bart. i was like 10. god i loved this game.

I know this is speculation on my part, but for this whole Quick Look, Brad sounds like on of those people who thinks it is cool to grossly overestimate how briefly they watched the show, as if The Simpsons was only a big deal for like 3 years or something. The Mr. Sparkle episode was absolutely still during the period when the show was relevant.

I'm glad Vinny openly acknowledged that he still kept up with the show for a good long while. Brad seemed to have the pre-written opinion of the show that basically everyone on the internet claims to have.

Pokemon is pushing 750 episodes. Simpsons has a way to go.

I was a pretty staunch Simpsons defender up unill like 2005. Once the movie came out though, I was done with the show. I never got to the frothing hatred the internet has had for it over the past 10 years (which I think is just a consequence of the internet's necessity to rage at something), but yeah, by like... season 17, it had become something it used to antagonize; just another boring network TV sitcom.b Even now I don't hate it. I just don't care.

It had its heyday of cutting edge satire. I actually liked the over-the-top Mike Scully years (seasons 9-12) that so many people hated, because with nothing left to make fun of, it began to lampoon itself. In seasons 13-16 they tried to bring the show back to earth and stick to relatable plots character interaction humor, but only succeeded half the time. After that, whatever. I think Al Jean's long standing tenure instilled a lazy "paycheck to paycheck" mentality to the writing staff.

I don't actively watch The Simpson's anymore but when I do I still find it pretty funny. Sure the plots aren't what they used to be but they still got a pretty solid gag per episode concentration goin on.

Mr. Sparkle was fucking amazing.

The only way to watch this is in embiggen mode.

Yeah X-Men Arcade was down to like "200 Microsoft Points" at one time over the holidays. I was excited to finally play Simpsons again but can wait for the inevitable sale

Cool and freeeeeee, but I wish they had touched it up a bit and given you the option to play a nicer full screen version if you wanted to.

About time they put the attract mode first.

I used to love beat 'em ups when I was a kid, but now I have come to realize that they are no longer fun for me. The gameplay is too simple and repetitive, even with the more recent games in the genre. I remember really looking forward to Scott Pilgrim on PSN and even though I bought it on day one, I have not finished it because the game literally put me to sleep, same thing goes for Shank. These days I prefer my sidescrollers to be platformers, or metroidvania games such as Shadow Complex. Though I still think a new Battletoads game done right could change my perspective, somebody make it happen please!
