So when domain watching website Fusible notices that Activision has grabbed a bunch of skylandersgiants.com and assorted domains here and internationally, it’s probably worth noting.

Activision is not listed in the registration data, but Mark Monitor is the credited registrant, and Activision has used Mark Monitor many times in the past, including skylandersgame.com.

Toy Fair kicks off on February 12 in New York, where Skylanders has been featured in the past. Not all toys for the game’s initial release have hit store shelves yet, so an announcement at Toy Fair next month might be premature.

Additionally, there’s a Twitter account called @skylandersgiant that’s retweeting stories about the domain name registration. It’s unclear if it’s an official Activision teaser or someone just fanning the flames, however.

Honestly, what with their death grip on Transformers, X-Men and Spider-Man licenses (or the Marvel comics license -- whatever they used to get Marvel Ultimate Alliance made. I know Sega has the Marvel movie license), I'm waiting for Activision to convert these franchises into "action figurable" franchises like Skylanders proves can work. Imagine getting new characters for Fall of Cybertron by going out and physically buying $10 "Ultra Armor Optimus Prime" or whatever.

This, I guess? Really though, they make a large ass Drobot that doesn't hook to a game and I'm THERE.

Of course, I haven't seen a single-figure SKylander in a store in aaages. Not that I have the game, but dude, Drobot is so cool I want him anyway!

They should make a Skylander character that is the shape and color of the GB logo and call it Jeffbot.

Oh crap, my 5 year old is obsessed with this game, and I don't mind playing it either.

I just hope that any new game will be compatible with the figures already released (though I doubt that will happen). I've already sunk a bunch of money into this game, and my kids have already beaten it.

I've been playing with my 9 year old, trying my damnedest to collect all the characters for her. The most I have found at a store was 4 characters (I had to buy them) other then that the reports have said that usually they are gone within a half hour of getting them on the shelf.

Hrm maybe skylanders giants are just going to be giant (and real action figure) versions of the 30+ existing skylanders, that or plush versions which might be interesting to see. Either way expecting to see more of Drobot & others in the future as it is a fun game.

I love Skylanders. It has been a fun investment for both my as well as my children. Good stuff! Would be cool if the game or future possible DLC would add random dungeons.
