Eidos Interactive Website Hacked, 350 Resumes And 25,000 Emails Plucked
Well, "what he thought he'd do was, he'd pretend he was one of those deaf mutes. That way he wouldn't have to have any goddamn stupid useless conversations with anybody. If anybody wanted to tell him something they'd have to write it on a piece of paper and shove it over to him. They'd get bored as hell doing that after a while, and then he'd be through with having conversations for the rest of his life."Damn that Laughing Man. Always diving into other peoples cyber brains.
Oh, that Salinger-loving Ghost in the Shell cast!
I wonder if this really is happening more, or we're just hearing about it more often since it's the current burning topic.
Might as well just save the hackers time and create a public website with all my details on the front page.
Hackers...
Such a sad little group of people. Nothing better to do than make life hard for other people.
While I wouldn't want THAT much chaos, I think a major net-related catastrophe that undermines people's current blind faith in the web might help more than it hurts, if only to make people more suspicious of putting their entirely fucking lives online.I know this is bad, but who else here kind of wants to see the internet actually fall apart before our eyes?
It's like all of what is happening is leading us to our inevitable doom that is 2012, where hackers will hack the universe and explode the Sun.
i dont get the point of hacking... what statement are they trying to make by stealing people's resumes?
I guess the hackers don't like the new direction Deus Ex is taking. Or they hate the pre-order bonuses.
It's okay hackers. I hate them too.
These hackers aren't thinking about the future.
Yes, the internet is fairly open. That's why they can get away with crap like this. Do you think it HAS to remain open, or that it will, forever?
The more this sort of thing happens, the more power you put into the hands of governments and security firms who say they will put a stop to this. Every stupid, meaningless hack for "lulz" allows the government to make yet one more case for why it should be in control of everything because apparently we can't be trusted with an open internet.
These hackers think they're so powerful - they're only powerful now because of the freedoms we have been given. If they abuse it, "The Man" might start taking those freedoms we cherish away, and the scary thing is, the public just might be cheering The Man on to do so.
Once Again: You hackers are making the internet community look bad, and you are, everyday, strengthening the Government's case for imposing a restrictive, controlled internet. No one wants the Government to control the internet, but your antics might just give them that excuse they need to take it from us.
Hackers aren't invincible. They never were, they never will be. They hide behind the cloak of anonymity given to them by an unrestricted internet, so they can abuse it due to its non-restrictive nature. For now, our ISPs stand against giving out customer data to the Feds. How much of this hacker abuse can they tolerate before they start getting sick of it too, and start co-operating with Uncle Sam? You tell me folks. If this keeps up, the Hammer will fall, and that won't be a pleasant day for "Chippy" and his pals.
Seems stupid that hackers would go after such a shade of a company that it used to be (Eidos), at least if my resume was on the site I've got lifelock & yahoo mail is great for spam filters. Honestly if there's all these 12th rate useless sites that pay known spammers for emails, why the spammers just don't make up or register fake emails instead of wasting time hacking sites.
As far as i'm concerned people can blame anything they want on Anonymous, they are faceless dicks. And Anonymous was to blame.
@mbr said:Again, brilliant marketing when there's people like you who believe in everything that they're told. It's just words, they don't mean anything." PR tricks is a lost art. I want to congratulate the people behind this, got a lot more exposure for the game for sure. "You're insane. Stealing corporate e-mails isn't a way to get exposure for a game.
jeez hackers leave people alone.

I realise that hacking is an extremely impressive feat, and that the people who can do it are pretty talented. But fucking use your skills on something useful for once.
