Are we excited for the game because it's another Zombie game or because Naughty Dog is making it?
The Last of Us
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Jun 14, 2013
Joel and Ellie must survive in a post-apocalyptic world where a deadly parasitic fungus infects people's brains in this PS3 exclusive third-person action-adventure game from Naughty Dog.
Are we excited?
Naughty Dog deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point.
But I can't imagine anyone is excited for another third person shooter this generation, let alone ones about zombies/monsters, which were the worst parts of the Uncharted games. I'll wait and see how it turns out, but I'm not excited by the premise.
I'm excited about a quality developer tackling a new story and scenario. I can't understand how anyone, from the little that has been released about the game, can actually make any other assumptions about it.

good FUCKING question. This game's hype makes no bloody sense
Considering Naughty Dog's track record, their skill with narrative and character development, storytelling through gameplay and the fact that the trailer was done in engine, I think the hype is FUCKING logical.
I'd be more excited if we actually got to see what the gameplay is like and if the game actually allows the player some freedom rather than the scripted to death sequences we got in Uncharted 3.
This. I hope the game is more open ended and not as linear as uncharted 3. A nice open or Hub world would be great to explore as you search for ammo and supplies.I'd be more excited if we actually got to see what the gameplay is like and if the game actually allows the player some freedom rather than the scripted to death sequences we got in Uncharted 3.

fine :(
I'm more excited by Naughty Dog making it than the zombie-ish story, but like many have said here, ND deserve the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure it will be fantastic. They haven't made a bad game on any Playstation platform (unless you don't like kart racers).
Have loved all the Naughty Dog games since Crash, but the setting of this game is really turning me off on this one. Zombies or not, there's a focus on survival here with enemies that most likely run at you, something I'm kinda done with. On the other hand the game could revolutionize the whole survival setting, time will tell.

No fighting kids. I will send you to bed with no dinner or video games.
I love ND, and I trust that they're probably making another sweet game but I'm a little let down that it's so visually similar to Uncharted.
This reminds me of the Dead Island trailer, everyone was having circle jerks around that thing saying how awesome it was. Yet it didn't even show one moment of game play. Same with the SWTOR trailers, looks awesome. Then you see the actual game and you're like "oh... that's it?". I don't really care if Naughty Dog is working on it. People think like they can do no wrong. Who's to say this won't be the first title they fumble? I'm sounding cynical, but I'll wait until there's some "real" footage of the game and get more info before I start jizzing all over my pants.
Well it looks like it's going to be high quality like Uncharted, but no; I wouldn't say I'm all that excited about it. The first look of the trailer with those plants were phenomenal, the Ellen Page-like character named Ellie was awkward, though not necessarily in a bad way, and I was done with zombie or zombie-like creatures before the zombies trend even started (unless we're talking about necromorphs or something).
Right now, it seems like a game that Naughty Dog wanted to create because someone on the team liked the show Walking Dead a little too much; by the way, more Troy Baker? Even if these actors are good, I'm pretty sick of hearing the same voice actors again and again, but I guess that can't always be fixed. I really just don't want to see another zombie apocalypse game. But as always, hope this game will be good.
Naughty Dog is one of my favourite developers behind Blizz and Valve, so I'm sure they can make a fantastic game with their hands tied behind their backs...
BUT
Ignore the prestige of the developer, and the game looks kinda ordinary. The colour palette is very Resident Evil-y, not very vibrant (something that Uncharted pulled of fantastically), I wasn't sold on the characters (OK, this is a little unfair, as you only see them for a minute), the whole thing just seems like "HAY GUIZ THE WALKING DEAD WAS PRETTY COOL HERE'S THIS GAME WE MADE THAT'S LIKE THAT. It doesn't do anything for me.
BUT
It's Naughty Dog, so it will be good, and I will buy it. Poor first impressions. But I remember being un-enthused by Uncharted 1 before it came out and... well, it was alright.
Very excited. The trailer looked great and had that great cinematic flair I expect from Naughty Dog, and it looks like a mature (with the violence and storytelling) take on Uncharted with I Am Legend. Color me hyped.

Can you not imagine me?

It's not the same as Dead Island or Star Wars because it's actually in-engine footage. Dead Island and Star Wars both had CGI trailers.
I don't know. I'm more surprised than anything, launching a new IP this late in the system's life. PS4 has to be announced at least in 2012. No?
I think there is a base level of interest that most people have in "the next game from Naughty Dog" but I won't call that excitement for the game.
Personally, the trailer by itself didn't do a lot for me. I will need to see some game-play before my interest (in the game specifically) sways from neutral.
Well, Uncharted 2 is among my favorite games of this generation and the thought of them developing a new game without being saddled with the baggage of an existing IP's expectations, a need to show off all their new techy bits by being a "flagship title" and a looming deadline (Which I suspect dampened the execution of Uncharted 3), then yes I am quite excited about what they have to offer.
Plus every time I declare myself over with zombies, something great with them renews my interest.
Interested? Yes -- in an "Oh, that's interesting - well nothing is going to happen with this for at least six months so... while that trailer was well done I'm going to put it out of my mind - because there's no point in wasting valuable thinking space on it." kind of way. Excited? No.
I've got games right now that I'm excited about. The future brings things and when the future is now, then I might be excited. We'll see.
I'm very excited. Even with all the apocalyptic zombie games out there, most of them are just about having an excuse to shoot hella monsters. This seems more focused on characters and survival. Naughty Dog have proven themselves very capable of character developement, so it's cool to see them maybe focusing on that and having a more gorunded story instead of just trying to one-up themselves with spectacular set-pieces. These are of course just my hopes based on a two and a half minute clip, but yeah, I think it has huge potential.
The trailer was incredible. It was the first time I've gotten a genuine film vibe from a video game. I don't think the attackers were monsters/zombies (at least I hope not), they seemed to be regular humans mostly placed in a survival of the fittest scenario. Can't wait to see more.
