You forgot, Gameinformer gave the game a 6.75 in their magazine...which really isn't saying much considering that Gameinformer are so PS and PC biased.

#4 Posted by Jayge_ (10221 posts) -

GameInformer was a 6.75 AND a 7. You also forgot the Polish magazine.

#5 Posted by BlindEffekt (917 posts) -

Must really depend on the player.
I didn't mind the game so much, but it wasn't overly awesome either.

#6 Posted by F1 (346 posts) -

Too much hype I think. I wasn't wowed by the demo like I felt I should. I'll probably rent it and play through it, since it's going to be a trilogy and all.

Im not really surprised at the low to average scores are.  Silicon Knights have never really produced an entirely Awesome original game,  most of their games have been average at best.

I always look at the developers, more then not that will tell you the quality of the finished product.  They are average at best.

didn't have high hopes for this games

FYI Denis is posting in this NeoGAF forum.

The 1up review was crap.

It seemed overly negative. However, they mentioned being able to fall through the ground? That's inexcusable.

I don't think Dyack can blame boring, unpolished combat, lack of real variety in player classes, enemy types and skills, or a multitude of other poor design decisions on the Unreal Engine. I think Dyack can really only blame Dyack.

I hope this game does relatively well. My gut is telling me the reviews are going to be very mixed across the board.

#15 Posted by pyromaniac (1703 posts) -

Any new videos?

#16 Edited by pause422 (6178 posts) -

these reviews aren't mixed...honestly regardless of how eligible you think they are(because reviews are always out in other countrys also, but people normal don't acknowledge them) just stop counting the greek thing, so far its had all 70 ish and high 60 review scores....I guess Dyack will be making more of a fool out of himself to neogaff then he thought.

exactly, he didn't use the unreal engine anyway, soon as they scrapped it he constantly said he thinks its the worst engine that is out now,and it bothers him that so many people think its good and use it...even though their initial intention was using it theirself...so that makes a lot of sense.

Too bad its getting such bad reviews, I was honestly looking forward to playing it but I'll guess I'll skip it now.

Just goes to show that once a game goes through Development Hell, it just be garbage: looking at you Duke Nukem!!

#19 Posted by Weskers_evil_brother (43 posts) -

I'll be honest, im not that fussed on the game, HOWEVER i have started to question some of the reviews (not just scores) at 1up these days. This isn't the first time i've found them to be overly critical.

#20 Posted by TheGTAvaccine (2884 posts) -

I dunno, I liked the demo a lot, but I just dropped almost 90 bones on the Fable 2 LE.

I've always thought of EGM/1UP as the elitist record store clerks of the game review world, and I kind of like them that way. Honestly, even if you don't agree with them I think it's important to have a major outlet that isn't afraid to be (sometimes a little too) critical.

GameFly, dude.
Dude, GameFly.
GameFly, dude.

Ouch. Well, Nintendo fans will be relieved since this was originally supposed to be a Gamecube title.

#24 Posted by Spiritof (2029 posts) -

I thought Eternal Darkness was the bee's knees.

#25 Posted by Duffman (208 posts) -

I'm still going to pick it up.  I like the demo a lot, and I enjoyed other games that got poor reviews, like Timeshift and Darksector.

#26 Posted by Dj (913 posts) -

Perhaps Dyacks words will come back to bite him.

#27 Posted by Ma7moud (805 posts) -

I've added GI. BTW IGNs review goes up tomorrow at 6AM PST.

#28 Posted by BoG (5187 posts) -

The reviews aren't terrible, so that's a good sign. I really just want to know how the story is now, this 7 average leads me to believe it will be fun, and if the story is up to par with ED, then I will love it.

#29 Posted by mandeponium (275 posts) -

I spent 2 hours downloading the demo and then spent 45 seconds playing it before I decided I didn't want it.

If what they show of the story in the demo is any indication, prepare to be disappointed.

If you look at 1up's reviews, the C- here is equivalent of what they gave Pokemon Battle Revolution.  So...yikes.

Or it might be because the game actually sucks.

Just a thought
#33 Posted by pyromaniac (1703 posts) -

wow...I guess this game sucks. I dont know if I should sink 60 bucks into this

We'll have a review at 6PM tonight. That's less than 30 minutes from right... now!

Kind of speaks to the quality of the game when the reviews are (presumably) embargoed until the day before/day of release, no?

Nice. I predict 4/5.
#37 Posted by tokyochicken (849 posts) -

I wonder whats gonna happen with the whole GAF thing now after this. Either way the game looks like its nothing too special but I think its not bad.

#38 Posted by AcidicVision (38 posts) -

you can fall throguh the ground in a game that took 10 years to make?

Thats the equivalent of being able to wall hack in Duke Nuken Forever.

Well to be fair, They have not been developing the game for 10 years, the idea of the game has been around for 10 years though.  I think Dennis said it has been 4 years in development, but it is a little embarrassing getting these low scores for 4 years of work.
#40 Posted by Ma7moud (805 posts) -

GB review is up. Its 3/5.

#41 Posted by chandlerr_360 (110 posts) -

It doesn't even matter to me anyways, the ONLY reviews I have learned to take the least bit seriously are Gamespot's, IGN's, and GiantBomb's. Besides them, I take nobody seriously.

#42 Posted by Ma7moud (805 posts) -

IGN review is up. it 7.8/10

#43 Posted by xruntime (1920 posts) -

These aren't really mixed - the general trend in the scores indicate that its a mediocre game.

#44 Posted by Ma7moud (805 posts) -

Gamepro review is up.it got 4/5.

#45 Posted by pause422 (6178 posts) -

Gamespot gave it a 5.5 apparently. Not sure if anyone said this already, just went around and looked at all the reviews.

#46 Posted by pause422 (6178 posts) -

Word.

Still waiting for GB's video review...

#49 Edited by pause422 (6178 posts) -

It got a 3/5, its hardly even deserving if a video review, but if there is one its cool...just people need to be less picky...if a game gets 4/5 or 5/5 I'd say its worth a video review, if not you got all the info you need right there in the rating and written review regardless.

#50 Posted by MisterMollusk (399 posts) -

Why oh why Denny D? Perhaps I will call you Denise Dyack until you redeem thyself with a polished game. Perhaps you should look at a Polish game if you want to see polish. I would recommend The Witcher. You could make a sequel called Too Humaner! :P
