You forgot, Gameinformer gave the game a 6.75 in their magazine...which really isn't saying much considering that Gameinformer are so PS and PC biased.
Must really depend on the player.
I didn't mind the game so much, but it wasn't overly awesome either.
Too much hype I think. I wasn't wowed by the demo like I felt I should. I'll probably rent it and play through it, since it's going to be a trilogy and all.
Im not really surprised at the low to average scores are. Silicon Knights have never really produced an entirely Awesome original game, most of their games have been average at best.
I always look at the developers, more then not that will tell you the quality of the finished product. They are average at best.
"The 1up review was crap."It seemed overly negative. However, they mentioned being able to fall through the ground? That's inexcusable.
"denis dyack is going to reign hell down on epic."I don't think Dyack can blame boring, unpolished combat, lack of real variety in player classes, enemy types and skills, or a multitude of other poor design decisions on the Unreal Engine. I think Dyack can really only blame Dyack.
I hope this game does relatively well. My gut is telling me the reviews are going to be very mixed across the board.
these reviews aren't mixed...honestly regardless of how eligible you think they are(because reviews are always out in other countrys also, but people normal don't acknowledge them) just stop counting the greek thing, so far its had all 70 ish and high 60 review scores....I guess Dyack will be making more of a fool out of himself to neogaff then he thought.
"hellknight8619 said:exactly, he didn't use the unreal engine anyway, soon as they scrapped it he constantly said he thinks its the worst engine that is out now,and it bothers him that so many people think its good and use it...even though their initial intention was using it theirself...so that makes a lot of sense."denis dyack is going to reign hell down on epic."I don't think Dyack can blame boring, unpolished combat, lack of real variety in player classes, enemy types and skills, or a multitude of other poor design decisions on the Unreal Engine. Too bad its getting such bad reviews, I was honestly looking forward to playing it but I'll guess I'll skip it now.
Just goes to show that once a game goes through Development Hell, it just be garbage: looking at you Duke Nukem!!
I'll be honest, im not that fussed on the game, HOWEVER i have started to question some of the reviews (not just scores) at 1up these days. This isn't the first time i've found them to be overly critical.

This isn't the first time i've found them to be overly critical. "I've always thought of EGM/1UP as the elitist record store clerks of the game review world, and I kind of like them that way. Honestly, even if you don't agree with them I think it's important to have a major outlet that isn't afraid to be (sometimes a little too) critical.
"I dunno, I liked the demo a lot, but I just dropped almost 90 bones on the Fable 2 LE."GameFly, dude.
Dude, GameFly.
GameFly, dude.
Ouch. Well, Nintendo fans will be relieved since this was originally supposed to be a Gamecube title.
I spent 2 hours downloading the demo and then spent 45 seconds playing it before I decided I didn't want it.
"The reviews aren't terrible, so that's a good sign. I really just want to know how the story is now, this 7 average leads me to believe it will be fun, and if the story is up to par with ED, then I will love it."If what they show of the story in the demo is any indication, prepare to be disappointed.
"You forgot, Gameinformer gave the game a 6.75 in their magazine...which really isn't saying much considering that Gameinformer are so PS and PC biased."Or it might be because the game actually sucks.
Just a thought
Kind of speaks to the quality of the game when the reviews are (presumably) embargoed until the day before/day of release, no?
I wonder whats gonna happen with the whole GAF thing now after this. Either way the game looks like its nothing too special but I think its not bad.
you can fall throguh the ground in a game that took 10 years to make?
Thats the equivalent of being able to wall hack in Duke Nuken Forever.
"Well to be fair, They have not been developing the game for 10 years, the idea of the game has been around for 10 years though. I think Dennis said it has been 4 years in development, but it is a little embarrassing getting these low scores for 4 years of work.you can fall throguh the ground in a game that took 10 years to make?

"
It doesn't even matter to me anyways, the ONLY reviews I have learned to take the least bit seriously are Gamespot's, IGN's, and GiantBomb's. Besides them, I take nobody seriously.
It got a 3/5, its hardly even deserving if a video review, but if there is one its cool...just people need to be less picky...if a game gets 4/5 or 5/5 I'd say its worth a video review, if not you got all the info you need right there in the rating and written review regardless.
