E3 2011: Twisted Metal Trailer
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, I loved Twisted Metal and especially TM Black and I almost feel like this could be a situation where I just don't realize that I want to play another game like that. That maybe once I get my hands on it, that classic TM feel and atmosphere is exactly what I need to break up the monotony of what a lot of gaming has become.
I really enjoyed the Twisted Metal PSOne games.. but this isn't doing anything for me.
I was pretty excited when they released Vigilante 8 on XBLA, which I loved just as much.. but I ended up being very disappointed with that too.
The car combat genre is just very much a 90's thing, I don't think it's aged well at all and just isn't at all relevant these days. I really can't see this game doing well.
Do none of you think David Jaffe has earned the benefit of the doubt? C'mon.
Anyway, while he (Jaffe) was great on the e3 bombcast, I still haven't heard any of the guys say they actually went and fucking played some Twisted Metal, which both disappoints and annoys me.
I've never seen the first one and only heard about this after listening to the E3 bombcast epic with Jaffe. Man, does he talk a good job. This looks weird, so very weird. I'll keep an open mind and my eyes open for the review I think.
I have fond nostalgic feelings towards the Twisted Metal series but I'm already wishing for a more traditional TM experience. I will still be buying this though.
I was getting into it, but then when I saw that they cut one of the characters and made it a pre-order only thing I lost interest real quick.

It's date creeping up on November ain't gonna do it any favours either.

Fred Tatasciore should make for a sweet Sweet Tooth... >_<'
That's kind of my opinion too. Just not sure I really want to see Transformers with my car combat, but we'll see how it turns out.
Twisted Metal Black was the best game in the series for a reason! The dark atmosphere and stories really created the right ambiance and mood for this genre and series.
Now I see this trailer and I see transforming cars? While I can understand this being used to breathe life back into a stale genre...it comes at the cost of what made Black a great game. I'm not sure I like that trade off.

It's early access, and you can put any driver in any car anyway.
I don't mind people talking trash about this game. Anyone who doesn't get Twisted Metal is obviously some youngling who's first console was an Xbox. They are not the kind of people I want to play with online anyway. As far as I'm concerned, this game was made just for me. Haters can hate, but that's their problem. Doesn't change the fact that this is one of the best games of 2011.
also, why comment on a game if you have nothing good to say? I don't even click on the videos of games I'm not interested in.
Twisted Metal Black was the best game in the series for a reason!Lol what.
Even Jaffe says World Tour is the best game, which is the truth. Black was just style over substance and wasn't fun to play, at all.

When I see games that do that I just don't buy them new any more. I will wait several months and buy them dirt cheap in the bargain bin, or trade for it with some one local.I was getting into it, but then when I saw that they cut one of the characters and made it a pre-order only thing I lost interest real quick.Just how things are now. If you hated every game that had planned DLC you would be left out )=

Umm... Did you actually play Black? Because.... http://ui26.gamespot.com/1625/vehicle_2.jpg
This just looks like an evolution of his Black car...
Yea I played Black, and I am very familiar with Sweet Tooth's ice cream truck having a transformation, however this trailer hints at EVERYTHING having a transformation to the point where every unique special will be "transform into a flying machine."@SpoonyBard said:

What I am trying to say is, I don't know if I like a car game becoming a transformers with flying mechs game. To each their own.
And to the individual who says Black wasn't the best: we are allowed to have differing opinions that's cool. I still say Black is the best and a lot of people will agree with me. Why can't we have that kind of style in a new game if so many people enjoyed that style?

I figured they would at least stop by the booth and check out the game, maybe give it a quick write up, pretty disappointing. Maybe they have and I just haven't heard them talk about it yet.
I agree with thinking this looks weird.
I think the sooner you can let go of this being a car combat game, though, the better you'll be able to get on board with what they're doing.
Way to go, jaffe and team, for bringing back FMV. FMV rocks and is so underutilized. (there's a difference between bad FMV and good fmv in games. How many games with bad character models and voice acting would have benefitted from video cutscenes instead?)
