Naughty Dog Talks Uncharted 2 Nitty-Gritty
I just want to put it, on the record, right now, before it gets called: Naughty Dog have implicitly stated they EXPANDED the team solely to ensure the single-player didn't miss out.
"they said they added people to the staff to work on multiplayer, therefore all the resources are going towards making the single play experience as good as it can be.Information on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has been flying fast and furious recently, just a few weeks in advance of E3. Following the revelation of the game's multiplayer mode--and a corresponding beta voucher for those who preorder Sucker Punch's upcoming open-world electro-thrill-ride InFamous--the Blog de PlayStation has a long interview with Uncharted 2's lead designer Neil Druckmann. He holds forth on a wide variety of topics regarding how the cooperative campaign will work, what kinds of changes have been made to Nathan Drake's movement controls, and a bunch of other stuff. Observe.Honestly, I'm not convinced a plot-driven series like Uncharted needs multiplayer, what with the focus being on a tightly crafted adventure and a good variety of exotic locales and all. I feel like all resources ought to go toward making that experience as good as it can possibly be--but let's wait and see how it turns out, shall we?"
Naughty Dog claims that they've hired entirely new people to do the multiplayer, so it shouldn't detract from the single player experience, so it having multiplayer can't be a bad thing. I'm not convinced it'll be much good, but at least they're trying to extend the replayabillity of the game.
I wasn't a fan of the original. Nathan was a decent character, but the gameplay wasn't for me. People should not be so resistant to bullets.
Few companies have as spotless a track record for me as ND do.
They've given me no reason to not have faith in Uncharted 2, can't wait.
I liked Uncharted, but I wouldn't really pay $60 for the sequel. I'll wait till I can get a deal on it.
I don't really think that games with high value like Uncharted really do need multi-player support. Sure it makes the game more re-playable in theory, but I know that a lot of people out there played through the single-player campaign again numerous times in the original Uncharted.
I guess coop and multi-player was a reaction to many people in forums and in the press talking about the lack of any replay value beyond the single-player campaign.
God, please make the animations better. Alone, they look great. But wayyyy too often you find yourself floating, not touching anything, climbing at weird angles.. ugh, I hate that. Make the platforming animations work better. Assassin's Creed is a great point to stride for.
From what I've heard, ND has had a problem of putting out les then excellent games when they try to add things like MP or Coop. And I agree that it doesn't seem the type of game to lend itself to multiplayer.. not at all really.
And the composer is the guy who did Firefly?? wow. if anyone hasn't watced that show, DO IT. Its effing amazing.
Sounds really solid. Can't wait to try this one out.
