...after completing it on Normal first. It feels like you have to be reeeally careful all the time because the slightest mishap can cost you your life (just switching cover while escaping from a grenade has gotten me killed numerous times!).
So now I only have one trophy left to obtain before Platinum: Completing the game on Crushing. To those of you who have done this, do you have any hints or tips for me that might make the experience easier? I'm fairly bad at these kind of games, and the only reason I even finished Hard was because I tried really hard until I made it (it felt kinda like banging my head against a wall at times).
What I've discovered so far that I didn't know during my Normal playthrough:
- Apparently the Guardians' crossbows are very useful against other Guardians
- The explosive blue resin is a lot more useful than I thought, and intentionally placed
- Most difficult encounters give you some sort of advantage, be it a weapon or propane tanks or the resin
UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your comments, they've really helped so far! I just finished chapter 18, Heart of Ice, and it's gone surprisingly smooth. For some reason the step from Normal to Hard felt a lot more difficult than going from Hard to Crushing! I also appreciate the video tip on the last boss, but here's hoping I won't have to resort to using it =)
UPDATE: I got my Platinum Trophy only moments ago =) Couldn't have done it without your advice, thanks guys! I must admit I played that last boss for a sucker but I didn't use any glitches!

I thought the game was easy...even on crushing. The only advice that I can give you other than the information you have attained on your own is to stay in cover as much as possible. Master stealth, you can avoid a lot of damage by using stealth kills. Finally and my most beloved tip HEAD SHOT, HEAD SHOT, HEAD SHOT.
P.S. the pistol may be more powerful than you think.
- Whenever the screen starts to fade to black and white find cover as quick as possible.
- If stealth is an option take out as many as you can without being seen.
- Blind fire is your best friend against rushing enemies.
- Make good use of grenades against the riot shield guys and the heavy armored.
- If you can, only go for head shots against the heavy armor guys.
- The timing on the melee combat is a little more strict when you need to counter.
- If there are enemies with lasers make them a priority.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Always go for the headshots. A sniper bullet to the head will take out an armored guy in a single shot. 3 sniper shots to the head for the mega armored guys with the chain guns.
Grenades will be your friend.
Try to sneak round or flank enemies. It may be risky, and if you always seem to get spotted, then don't risk it.
If you find yourself overwhelmed, try and get a shotgun and stay behind cover. As soon as an enemy tries to rush you or generally comes near you, either blind fire the shit out of him, or pop out for a quick shot.
As soon as you see a laser sight, keep dodging. If they get a lock on you for about 2 or 3 seconds, you're dead.
On the harder difficulties, ammo can be scarce. Here's how i got passed that by tricking the game. I'll use the M4 as an example, but it works with any gun.
Whenever you pick up a different weapon (e.g. shotgun to M4), the M4 will have around 50 bullets. However, if you holding an M4 and pick up other M4 ammo, you'll only pick up about 10-20 bullets. This can be frustrating even though there are loads of the same weapon lying everywhere. Here's how to bypass this. Say you want loads of M4 bullets, and there are around 3 M4 guns lying around. If you pick them up one after the other, you'll get around 60 bullets from those three guns. However, remember that when you pick up a new M4 (or any other weapon), they'll have significantly more bullets. So, say you're holding an M4. Drop it and pick up a different two handed gun. Now go pick up a different M4, not the one you dropped, but another one lying around. You'll get around 50 bullets. Go and pick up the ammo from the M4 you were holding initially. After that, drop that M4 and pick up the other two handed gun. Go to a DIFFERENT M4 on the ground, and pick it up. Since you're always picking up a "new weapon" you'll get around 50. After this, go pick up the M4 that you dropped before. On top of the 50 bullets you just got, you'll get the additional 50 from the last M4 you dropped. You won't get around 10-20 bullets from it because since you already picked it up and the game registered how many bullets are in it, it'll remain that way. So after picking that up, you'll get 50+50 bullets which equals 100 bullets. Repeat this method with the 3rd M4 lying on the ground and you'll get another 50 bullets. That's a total of 150 bullets just from 3 guns.
It's a bit confusing to get from reading this, but next time you're playing, notice that you'll always get a lot less ammo if you pick up ammo of the same gun that you are currently holding, and that each time you pick up a new one, you'll get a lot more.
always go for headshots, especially with the armored guys
pick up every bit of ammo you come across
don't let the riot sheild guys get up close because you can't melee them.
try to avoid melee when there's a lot of people, because they'll shoot at you while you're fighting and you can't protect yourself.
always use the scope with the FAL (that gun is awesome)
if someone throws a grenade while you're in cover, vault over to the other side (if there is one) instead of trying to jump out of the way.
USE THE CROSSBOWS AGAINST THE GUARDIANS.
If you have issues, and run into bouts of frustration:
During the first chapter when you pick up the gun, change the difficulty to one you enabled tweaks in, enable your tweaks.
Quit and in the menu change the difficulty back to crushing.
Hit continue.
Congrats, you just tricked the game. Yes, this works.
I beat the game on Crushing fairly, it should be noted that the game is easier on Crushing than the previous game by a long shot. Just conserve, stick to cover, and try and use stealth more than you would normally do.
I dont know how you play games or even played this on normal without figuring this stuff out. The blue resin, its almost like the story shoves the fact that it burns right up your ass, and then again just to make sure you got it. yes, I get it, this shit burns and blows up. The guardians are not hard, just very resilient on normal, but I dont see how you dont get annoyed at how many shots they take. Grab that crossbow.
only had problems with the train boss (which i figured you could just rapidly tap triangle and square to bypass anything he does)
lasarevic and the big gunfight in borneo on hard... I'm going to do crushing after the barrage of games coming out.
the laser snipers even on hard seem to be a lot more lenient timewise than they were in the first game.
