So this isn't based on the movies then? cause if it was then the transformers wouldn't look like cars yet.

why is anyone excited for this? why are they releasing this? Also if it is prior to first contact wit Earth, why are they turning into vehicles from Earth? This falls short in all aspects.

While I still don't understand why making a game with 80's style characters is impossible, at least it's not using the shitty trash style of the movies, so it's already better by default.  The only issue is that pre-Earth Transformers has been done several times in other media, and it's all conflicting designs with no concrete evidence to what is considered canon.  So while it makes it easy to do whatever they want without fucking up the timeline, it will generate some nerd rage when it doesn't use the previous works, similar to how stupid Star Wars can get with its off-screen bullshit.
 
Maybe Activision can convince Takara to add the PS2 game as a bonus - maybe a pre-order incentive or something.  While the gameplay was shit, it at least was the last time the original G1 characters were used, and that made it bearable.
 
It's also been reported that there are already toys planned for the game, so it's going to be pushed heavily.

I'm excited just because they didn't go with the ridiculous Michael Bay designs.
 
And FYI, they aren't turning into vehicles from earth, they're just turning into vehicles. Seriously, have you seen Optimus's vehicle form on earth? If so, please tell me which car company it's from. Cause I don't believe it.

I want this too be good. As a child of the 80's its been a long time coming to get a real TF game that actualy plays well. I dont have high hopes though.

Is it just my shitty connection or was that a really awful trailer that kept skipping? As An Aussielander I think it is more shitty connection, But, from what I saw, looks epic.

No matter how much, I want to see this game be good....that's not very likely now is it. But hey, maybe it won't suck (that's going quite the stretch but you never know).

The notion of a good transformers game is far from alien. The Armada game for PS2 was actually quite sublime. Marred, granted, by being associated with one of the lamer iterations of Transformers, but a good game nonetheless.
 
I hate this trailer though. I hate it because it fundamentally takes the same "let's borrow a little from every generation and make our own videogame version of it that rocks" philosophy route that Arkham Asylum did, and by that association makes me... hopeful!! This is highly irresponsible on Acti's part, because I'm sure - and am sure they know - it won't be good.

so... driving, transforming, and weapons will be in the game. Apart from that this doesn't really get me excited to see a new transformers game after all the previous failures. I like that its separate from the movie franchise, like some pointed out. Also, the fact that they can transform into cars pre-Earth is cool if it works in the gameplay, because as we all know GAMES DON'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE! As long as its fun, who cares.

That sure was a lot of gameplay footage.

Looks like it could be good I guess. The Revenge of the Fallen game was alright

High Moon did Darkwatch and Bourne Conspiracy, two pretty decent games so I've got high hopes for this. No pun intended. :)
