Your December may be cold, but it’s going to be a hot one in Azeroth. Hot with fire.
Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft: Cataclysm—the third expansion to its so-popular-that-you-don’t-really-need-to-qualify-it MMO—will touch down in stores and digital tubes on December 7th, just in time for you to spend your whole winter break in the newly-sundered Azeroth (or, at the very least, enough time to seriously jeopardize your final exam grades). The latest expansion sees the return of the insane dragon Deathwing, Azeroth’s most dangerous threat that you’ve never heard of, whose very awakening tears apart every landmass in the world. Players will return back to the original continents and try to stop Deathwing before he does any more damage to the already-ravaged Azeroth
Those zone changes brought about by the return of Deathwing are more than just cosmetic changes; Cataclysm seeks to offer new players and current subscribers more reasons to play through the early parts of WoW by adding new content and quests to nearly every zone in the game, making the path to the end game feel fresher and more meaningful than it has in previous expansions.
== TEASER ==To further incentive players to try out the new low-level cataclysm content, Blizzard is introducing two brand new races to the game. The Alliance is joined by the Worgen, a population of humans cursed with lycanthropy, whose starting area is bound to be full of Twilight jokes. The Horde, on the other hand, welcomes the arrival of the Goblins, a formerly neutral, mercantile race that has decided, since the Horde doesn’t have a tiny ally, they might as well fill that quota.
That focus on the lower level content hasn’t prevented Blizzard from adding new content as well; Cataclysm adds eight new zones for leveling and two new PVP zones for battling, as well as brand new instances and raids.
